The Magna Carta was created for England.
It was written on June 10, 1215.
It lessened the power of the King and gave it to the
parliament.
It gave rights to the citizens of England and it wa
more powerful than the King.
3. GLORIOUS
REVOLUTION
The Glorious Revolution happened in England.
William of Orange took the throne from King James
II.
The English Bill Of Rights was a result of the
Glorious Revolution.
4. THE ENGLISH BILL OF
RIGHTS
It was written on December 16, 1689.
Basically, it talked about the limit of power the king
had over the country. It also includes rules and rights
for Parliament.
5. THE ENLIGHTENMENT
The Enlightenment was when parts of Europe went
through social, intellectual, cultural, and philosophical
changes. It was a revolution of the mind and there was
no war.
It started somewhere around 1650.
It was important because it changed the thought
process of the average individual by giving them
access to information.
6. CHARLES-LOUIS
MONTESQUIEU
He is from France.
He is famous because he was a political thinker during
the Enlightenment and he came up with the thoery of
separation of powers.
7. JOHN LOCKE
He was from England.
He lived from August 29, 1632-October 28, 1704.
His idea for natural rights questioned the divine right
of kings. It established social laws and right for people.
8. JEAN JACQUES
ROUSSEAU
He is from Geneva.
He lived from June 28, 1712-July 2, 1778.
Social contact was the relationship between a person
and the government. It was made so that people and
the government could agree on decisions.
9. THOMAS JEFFERSON
He is from Virginia.
He is most famous for writing the Declaration of
Independence.
He changed the phrase, “Life, Liberty, and Property”
by John Locke to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of
Happiness” because being happy and having freedom
was better than having property and having freedom.
