- Chosen to do my website critique on bbc news website.BBC News is the department of the BBC responsible for the gathering and broadcasting of news and current affairs. The department is the world's largest broadcast news organisation and generates about 120 hours of radio and television output each day, as well as online news coverage.Purpose of the website is to educate and inform, for anyone looking for the latest news coverage.
- Recent revamp in 2011- the old web design was cramped and not very structured, a bit all over the placefairly good navigation with the bar down the left hand side, and along the top, but the new design is more atheistically pleasing.
- The new BBC news web page.I think it is quite a good example of info design at its very best: the heading sizes show a clearer hierarchy of information, the text is larger than it was in the previous design with better line spacing to aid readability The main navigation has been pulled to top center of the page too. It also now has larger imagery to draw the eye. The new design feels more roomy, with the BBC adopting a simplecolumn like layout. Clean design with white background, uncluttered.It is also fairly interactive, with the scrolling watch and listen at the side, apart from that is fairly flat.Page load time, running on safari was extremely quick, also the same on chrome, not a huge amount of content to load, mostly text.
- I found it very easy to find information, and get around the website, with the search bar in the top right ,if your looking for any news coverage in particular, quick load time, which takes you to search results with news articles and also videosYou can get quite deep into the website, through related stories, but there isn't any breadcrumbs or any way of getting back to where you started.The only way to do this would be to use the home button on the top left of the navigation bar or click on the logo, so I feel this could be something to be improved.
- Bbc news website available to use on different platformsCompatible with ipad and iphone, also there is a Free bbc news app which makes it that much easier to use, this is my preferred way to search the news whilst on the goUsing the app it is easy to skim through news headlinesThe app offers stories and video, and you can personalise the home screen by adding and removing news categories to suit your interests, personalisationNon responsive design on all platforms, even on the pc.

- Accessibility on BBC news websiteNews and analysis can be translated into 27 different languagesI also found a whole page specifically for accessibility. The site provides accessibility help, enabling computer users to make the most of the internet whatever their ability or disability, so they can set this and it would automatically work every time they access the computer.I did not find any quick way of changing text size or background colours,

And then finally there is also a need for a scroll to top of page, its not lengthy, but having a simple button at the bottom would make it that bit easier to use,
