3. What are rainforests?
- Thick and luxuriant evergreen forests found in areas
with high rainfall and high temperatures throughout the
year
- The Earth’s oldest living ecosystems
- Ecosystems = all plants and animals and people in an
area and the way they interact with one another and
their environment

facing?
DEFORESTATION.
- The cutting or burning trees to satisfy human needs

- make more land available for housing and urbanisation
- harvest timber to produce commercial items like paper,
furniture and homes
- create ingredients that are highly-prized consumer
items, like oil from palm trees
- create room for cattle ranching
7. Impacts on people and
environment
- Loss of habitat for millions of species
- Increase the severity of global warming
- Soil erosion
- Air, water and land pollution
8. Measures to avoid deforestation
- Organise campaigns to raise awareness
- Hold talks in schools
- Make huge posters and put them up in
various places, telling people to save the
trees
- Use less paper
- follow the 3Rs
9. Group Reflection
We feel that deforestation is a very rampant
issue in the world and we should all do our part
to stop it. Simply by cutting down on our use of
paper and electricity and practicing the 3R’s,
we can help bring down deforestation.
