3. Rhyming
games are a great place to start
while teaching younger kids about poetry
Pick a word, think of all the words that
rhyme with that word.
Try first with one-syllable words, and then
with words of two or more syllables
This helps them to enjoy it more

6. Performing poetry is taking a poem and "acting it
out” with……………...
Rhythm, sense of movement
Use visuals that are attached to the words and
sentences
Performing the above leaves a strong emotional
impact
This creates an in-depth relationship with the
language which actually takes the child beyond
the language skills

out words which connect you to that
idea or the object

10. A
poem
A poem
A poem
things
A poem
A poem
A poem
A poem
doesn’t have to be long
doesn’t have to be serious
doesn’t have to be about important
doesn’t have to
doesn’t have to
doesn’t have to
doesn’t have to
rhyme
be shown to anybody
be funny
have a message

11. A
poem can be any of these things, and many
more
The only thing a poem really has to do, is to
please you, the writer, and make you glad
that you wrote it

13. A poem is a little path
That leads you through the trees.
It takes you to the cliffs and shores,
To anywhere you please.
Follow it and trust your way
With mind and heart as one,
And when the journey’s over,
You’ll find you’ve just begun.
