Look - Inspection
Question mark posture: loss of lumbar lordosis.
Unable to touch wall with occiput.
Feel - Palpate
Flexed posture with marked limitation of movements of the spine.
Reduced chest expansion.
Movement
Reduced ability to touch toes? Measure the distance.
End of exam
Nail her mnemonic plus:
E - Say I would examine the joint above and below: including the hips and knees.
I suspect Ankylosing Spondylitis therefore I would do:
A Respiratory exam – there is apical fibrosis rarely
I would check the eyes for Iritis
I would listen to the heart for Aortic Regurgitation.
