Production Process Evaluation
Research
• The research helped me decide what effects I wanted to use on my final
podcast. I got to experiment with the tools on Adobe Premiere and decide
which helped me and which ones I would use.
• Researching podcasts that already exist helped as I was able to find out
the typical conventions of a podcast. I was also able to see how voice
overs, sound effects and music are used in a podcast.
• The audience profile didn’t help me as much as I wasn’t set on the type of
audience I would appeal to yet.
Planning
• Designing a mood board did not help me for this project. I feel that the
mood board is helpful when designing something that use colours and
visuals, but for the podcast, it didn’t have much influence.
• The mind map was helpful as I was unsure on what podcast I was going to
do, but after being able to expand on a couple ideas, I had a clearer image
of what I wanted to do. Being able to write down ideas for a topic helped
me decide which topic I had most knowledge on.
Time Management
• I feel that I was able to manage my time well, I was able to have work
handed in on deadline dates without the work being rushed.
• The power point work took much longer than it took to create my podcast,
but I was still able to create the type of podcast I wanted with all of the
right elements.
Target Audience Appeal
• Appealing to an audience via a podcast is tougher than appealing through
a magazine cover. But using the right type of language and having the right
topics, it can be done.
• The way I appealed to my audience was by using music and songs that the
audience would recognise, such as artists like Drake and Future. The
demographic I appealed for are within the age range of people that listen
to these artists.
• The language I used as well was effective as it would have been more
appealing to the audience. I used informal language so that the podcast
was easy to listen to, and so that the audience would understand it.
Technical Qualities
• My podcast has some similarities with other existing podcasts, such as the
informal language used. The other podcasts that I researched all used
informal language so I decided to use it in mine.
• The layout is also similar, I decided to have an intro where I talked about
what the podcast is about, then went on to discuss them topics in more
description, then finally I had the conclusion. I tried to use music in the
same way the other podcasts did, for example, I used some certain lyrics
from a song that had relevance to what I was talking about, and I used
them lyrics on there own after I had finished talking.
• This is the tool box for Adobe Premiere, it has anything needed for
editing audio tracks.
• This is the tool you select if you want to be able to move about your
audio, whether it be to another audio track or on a different minute
and second.
• This is the razor tool, which is used for splitting audio tracks. If there
is something in your audio track that isn’t needed, you are able to
highlight this tool and simply trim out the section you don’t want.
Aural Qualities
• I feel that my work sounds good, and I think that the use of
music and sound effects really helped. I used songs to
introduce the podcast, and to end the podcast. Without the
music the podcast would be a lot simpler and boring.
• I used sound effects to transition in between paragraphs,
which I believe worked well. The sound effects were also used
to describe what I was talking about, for example, whilst I was
talking about a player who tends to slam dunk whilst playing
basketball, I used a slam dunk sound effect during my speech.
Audience Appeal
• The music that I used during my podcast will appeal to my
target audience. With basketball being an American sport
which is mainly followed by teenagers / young adults, I used
American artists which these aged people would know, such
as Drake and Future.
• The main focuses of the podcast were the talented players
and the main teams. I focused the podcast on these superstar
players as they are the idols of younger basketball fans. This
engaged the audience as they want to read about there
favourite players.
