3. âą Generic conventions, written text that
settings and dialogue are examples of the
technique.
âą Directors of feature films use
music, narrative setting and camera shot to
juxtapose elements that will encourage
viewers to respond how they want them to.
13. How different is our film?
This is a clip from the end of our opening scene, this differentiates our film from
others as you do not usually see a film about twin girls that has spitting in the
opening.
14. OCD
This is establishing the OCD part of our film as one of the twin girls is very thorough
with her morning routine of getting ready. Usually when a girl is getting ready you see
Someone washing their face yet with this it is a routine of cleanliness and hygiene.
15. The Differences Between Characters
We established 2 main characters in the first 2 minutes of the film in the opening
sequence as you can see they are in different rooms, the lighting is very exact to
the room and the character reflecting in them. When you see the OCD girl you
notice all the light and the background is light and pretty and clean. When you see
the other twin, she is sloppy, smelly we can assume and quite vulgar. We can see
this from her sniffing her armpit.
16. How does your media product represent
particular social groups ?
- Although our media product sticks to the themes and
conventions of feature films. We would like to think that we
have broken the boundary of showing mental health in
comedy.
- Our film introduces two characters who are the direct
opposites of each other. One of the characters being
obsessively clean to the point of OCD, and the other being
completely scruffy and disgusting.
- I feel that this product could appeal to teenage groups
because it introduces mental health in to a teenage genre.
17. What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
âą Step brothers was made by Paramount who are a huge
mainstream company specializing in big feature films.
âą Realistically our film would probably be distributed by an
independent company because our film is set locally to
London and doesnât have well known actors in it.
âą Our film would probably be distributed by an
independent company also because we would have an
incredibly small budget.

19. How did you attract/address your audience?
âą Our film hopefully attracts the audience by creating an
enigma to whether the girls are twins.
âą Another way we attempted to capture the audience is by
using music that draws attention to the film.
GenreOur film is a cross between a socially realist comedy like Little Miss Sunshine and Step brothers extreme characters. We have aimed our teen drama/comedy at teens from the ages of 14-18 because it has humor that will appeal to those ages.
Our film doesnât challenge many conventions. The only thing that could be considered breaking a convention is the fact that we explored mental health in teenage lives, this could be considered breaking a convention because we tried to put this across comically by using contrapuntal music to add an element of humor. We didnât challenge any filmic conventions we used Match on Action and used Jump cuts to illustrate our ideas and the characteristics of each character. The forms and conventions we used didnât werenât contradicting other media products. We filmed it conventionally using medium, large and close up shot sizes and included jump cuts. This doesnât really break any conventions.

-We used bright contrasting colours with each of the characters to match their characters. The neat twin has light pastel coulered things around her in this shot, where as the scruffy twin has red and black things sorrounding her. We did this to give insight in to their characters. A lot of films in the comedy genre open their films with music that attracts the audiences. For example Step Brothers uses A punk by Vampire Weekend to set the tone of their film. We did this too by trying to set an atmosphere for the film.
