Sweeping challenges such as climate change can't be solved without the collaboration of all involved actors, however far from each other their concerns and points of view are. An open approach to data is nowadays acknowledged as an efficient tool to enable such collaboration. But by making data "live", Linked Data brings it a step further towards the constitution of a common good of data. And the Cloud empowers it by the required scalability. This talk presents the benefits of Linked Open Data as a Service as an open approach to energy consumption monitoring, and the economical models adopted by its Smile and Ozwillo-led partners, be they data producers, ecosystem developers or technology providers. It includes a live end-to-end demonstration of Smile's Linked Data as a Service offering bridging IoT, Big Linked Open Data and Cloud.
