http://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/philosophy/works/ge/leibniz.htm monadology was a summary of his philosophy for european royalty in the early 1700s it aimed to combine reason and faith and overcome the mind body problem divided everything into universal elements (monads) all connected, but also operating separately the fundamental monad is God (as evidenced by the harmonious operation of all monads) compare to the fist empirical mapping of molecules and atoms in the 1860s interesting: “every organic body of a living being is a kind of divine machine or natural automaton” The monadological approach presents a way of thinking about being isolated and connected in media at the same time without this state of being representing some kind of final composite of being alone and together.
