STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

Do you want a truly happy life?
It is a simple question and one that many women want. Sadly, so many women, and men, do not have a truly happy life
because of one thing. One thing is preventing contentment and that one thing is that they compare themselves to others.
The real you will never come out and your truly happy life will never be released until you stop comparing yourself to
others. To get true happiness and contentment you need to look inside and be happy with who you are, and not worry what
others think or how you look next to someone else.
There is a constant bombardment of celebrities that we all try to emulate, the Kardashians, Kate and William, movie stars on
the red carpet. But, you are not them and they are not you. Many of these celebs are not happy because they are famous. In
many cases these celebs would prefer not to have the fame and the money if they were truly honest. These people are happy,
living a life that seems idyllic and full of success (trust me what is seen on outside is not the same on the inside) because they
are who they are and they know it. Sure, they may admire the dress sense of another celeb or even their friends but it is who
they are that matters most.
In addition, it is not just the reality TV and glossy magazines that show people who look better than you, there are no doubt
friends, colleagues and even family members to whom you aspire. Some of them will gloat in their appearance when they
look good or share something awesome on Facebook. When they do you feel down and bummed out. Why?
Why do you or should you feel this way?
Are you jealous or are you continuously wishing you had their life?
Your life is not their life, what makes them happy may not make you happy. Finding your own sense of contentment is
essential. Great so your friends and those you compare yourself to may have more money. In many ways, their happiness is

super cial and only skin deep. Don’t let money stop you being you, you will know what makes you happy. Just because
your Jeans are not a brand name it doesn’t make you look any worse – does it?
Comparing yourself to others becomes petty, pointless and even pathetic. When you stop comparing yourself you others,
and every often you are comparing what you don’t have to what they do, you will feel something change inside. Your
happiness will ow, you will feel con dent and you will begin to grow in ways you never imagined when you focus on
what you have. Finding contentment in yourself and putting more emphasis on that rather than trying to be like or wishing
you were more like so and so will make you a better person.
By focusing on you, the things that many celebrities or those who could easily compare yourself to have or do could either
materialize or become less important. When you focus on you, you nd an inner peace that attracts all the happiness and
positives of life because focusing on you is positive and requires little if any real e ort. Focusing on you brings about
change, focusing on you and not how others see you brings about con dence and focusing on you changes your outlook on
life.

It’s easier said than done, as they say… but so important to learn how to not compare yourself to others. I
remind myself daily that my only competition is me – and to be better than I was the day before.
