Isolated Fixtures allows creating independent fixture sets for each test unit, avoiding conflicts between tests. It works by creating fixtures directories for each test, loading only the relevant fixtures. Tests can now be written faster and fixtures organized more clearly without breaking other tests. The code is available online and was designed for Rails 1.1.6, though Rails 1.2 may have addressed the issue in another way. Some questions remain around duplication and hackiness of the approach.
