Chris Carter racking up homers at Minute Maid Park
1. Chris Carter racking up homers at Minute Maid Park
In his third season in Houston, Astros slugger Chris Carter is now eighth all-time in franchise history
in home runs at Minute Maid Park.
Carter deposited a 421-foot, two-run home run into the Astros bullpen in the second inning Tuesday
night to help spark the Astros' comeback in the 10-5 victory over the Angels.
That shot was Carter's 17th of the season. It also was his 13th home run against the rival Angels
since 2013, giving him the most home runs in that span by any player against the Angels.
Moreover, the homer was Carter's 44th at Minute Maid Park putting him within two home runs of
tying Richard Hidalgo for seventh all-time in home runs by an Astro at Minute Maid Park.
Carter has hit 83 home runs since the Astros acquired him from the A's on Feb. 4, 2014.
"Even though I'm not hitting for average like I should be I'm trying to keep the other numbers up,"
Carter said.
2. Only Luis Valbuena (19) has more home runs for the Astros this season than Carter, who led the club
with home runs in 2013 (29) and 2014 (37).
As is his style, though, Carter was more content after the victory Tuesday to credit the rest of the
offense on a night when Carlos Correa hit his ninth home run of the season, Evan Gattis hit his team-
leading seventh triple and Jose Altuve had a career-high five RBIs.
"It's fun," he said. "We got the big hits when we needed them. We got down early but we rallied back
and Correa had a few big hits, Altuve had a big night for us too. So that was huge for us."
