The Town of Yarmouth is proposing to create an energy park by developing three parcels of land adjacent to its Waste Water Treatment Plant and Commercial Transfer Station. The town issued a request for proposals in 2017 to solicit responses from organizations with solutions for using the parcels to help reduce waste disposal costs through processes that could utilize food waste, seaweed, or invasive plants and algae as feedstock. Four bid packages were received and are currently under review.

- 2. In 2014 Yarmouth began considering options for land adjacent to Waste Water Treatment Plant
- 3. Parcel A: 1.02 acres west of Town owned leased (to Covanta) Commercial Transfer Station Parcel B: .96 acres east of Commercial Transfer Station. Parcel C: 1.29 acres includes compost bays, south of Town owned Waste Water Treatment plant (operated by Weston & Sampson staff)
- 4. • The RFP provided a range of potential inputs to a process to be defined by the respondent to help deliver a solution for the broad goals given • The RFP Meeting held on December 14, 2017 was attended by 34 different organizations and over 40 people who had great questions, they reviewed the parcels that day.
- 5. Until food diversion can be ramped up, some of the potential respondents have been looking at alternative options including seaweed and possibly using machines to harvest invasive grass and algae from fresh and salt water as feed stock for an Aerobic Digester.
- 6. Yarmouth is hoping for the best solution that will help reduce costs of waste disposal for the Cape
- 7. 4 Bid packages were received and the review process is underway.

- Hello, thank you for being here, I am blessed to work in an organization that believes in teamwork, and the team that conceived of the Energy Park has been driven by Yarmouth’s Finance Director Ed Senteio. The team looked for available town owned land and decided that the best location to place a potential Energy Park would be right at the Waste Management Facility. The goal: to reduce and stabilize the cost of wastewater residuals and food waste disposal for the region by creating beneficial products.
- Because of the location, ease of access, close proximity to the highway, railroad and existing facilities the Waste Management property was proposed at the Annual Town Meeting as a viable location to offer as a property for lease to businesses wishing to invest and sign on for a long term contract. The RFP was issued in November of 2017.
- Here is a layout of the property parcels being proposed for lease. Each parcel has its advantages. The traffic pattern is not clear in this image, but one must enter from the main road and this one way road passes parcel C then the next building is the WWTP, then loops around to pass Parcel A then the existing commercial transfer station, then Parcel B, then exit the same way one came into the property.
- Participants ranged from those that would take the wastewater residuals and food waste and use them in an Anaerobic Digester to produce Electricity or Natural Gas or that would put in a composting operation for the waste including yard waste
