Definition
The Past tense is used for actions that
took place in the past time. But no
definite time is given. This tense does
not indicate whether the action was
complete or incomplete.

Example
He played guitar.
Akram went for traveling.

• Usage
 To talk about things happened in the
past:
Example
I saw a live tiger yesterday. We
visited London last summer.
 For story-telling:
Example
Once upon a time, there lived a
princess in a castle.

• Usage
 A past habit :
Example
I won many championships when I was
young.
 When one action came immediately after
another, we use the past simple for both:

When the thief saw the policeman, he ran
