4. JOURNALISM
Journalism is the investigation and reporting of
events, issues and trends to a broad audience.
The activity or profession of writing for
Newspapers or Magazines or of Broadcasting
News on Radio or Television.
5. ACRONYMS
Acronyms are abbreviations formed from the
initial components in a phrase or a word.
6. CROSS FADE
Cross fade is editing that makes a smooth
transition between two files.
To show something exiting from the scene or
other is inserting is cross fade.
This method creates a smooth transition, for a
short period of time the listener hears both files
playing simultaneously.
7. TALK BACK
Is a means of instantaneous communication
between the MCR (Master Control Room) and
Studio is Talk Back.
A system of communications links in a radio
studio that enables directions to be given while a
program is being produced.
8. DTH
Direct-to-Home broadcast
A digital signal transmitted directly from
satellite, received through small dish at home or
subscriber’s end.
9. FIX SPOT
1.The continuity of one portion
in every episode of some
program is fix spot.
2. Commercial spot broadcast at
fixed time
Example: HBL advertisement
broadcast before 8 O clock News
12. CROSS SCRIPT
When the voice over is different from
the video is cross script.
It means reporter that reporting the news is
entirely different from the video displaying on your
television ,there is no connection between them.
13. ACTUALITY
Recoded segment of any
event or subject is called
actuality.
14. ADLIB
Spontaneous act of speaking
Unscripted material to be spoken
To improvise and deliver without preparation
15. FEED
Broadcasts sent by
radio and TV
networks to local
stations or by a
local station or
medium to the
headquarters office
or other media.
The origination
point is called the
feed point.
20. DIARY
A list of broadcasted programmes in a record
is Diary.
21. DATELINE
A dateline is a brief piece of text included in
news articles that describes where and when
the story occurred.

: A technique in which objects very near the
camera as well as those far away are in
focus at the same time.
To focus the two persons and also focus
their background deeply.
25. Beat
A special area of journalism that a reporter
always cover.
E.g. health, entertainment.
