people do on

belived light had power
over darkness. Today
jack-o-lantens are
supposed to frighten
away ghost and witches
 Jack-o-lanterns: son

dentro. En los viejos
pueblos se encienden
hogueras para
ahuyentar a los malos
espíritus. Creían que luz
tenía poder sobre las
tinieblas. Se supone que
hoy jack-o-lanterns debe
ahuyentar a los
fantasmas y las brujas.

belleved that bad spirits came
back to the earthly world,people
thought they would meet ghost if
they left their homes. To avoid
being recognized by ghosts people
would wear masks when they left
homes after dask so that the
ghosts would mistake them for
fellow spirits. That´s why
halloween costumes are
traditionally mosters such as
vampires, ghosts, witches, and
devils.
 Vestimenta: en halloween, se creía
que los malos espíritus regresaban
al mundo terrenal, la gente
pensaba que se encontrarían con
los fantasmas si abandonaban sus
hogares. Para evitar ser
reconocidos por los fantasmas la
gente usaba máscaras cuando
salían de sus casas por la noche
para que los fantasmas se
confundieran con sus compañeros
espíritus. Es por eso que los
disfraces de Halloween son
tradicionalmente monstruos como
vampiros, fantasmas, brujas y
demonios.

heightbourhood, often in small
groups in order to ask for
treats such as sweets,
lollipops, chocolates or money.
When someone anwers the
door, the children say: “trink
or theat”? The “trick” is a
threat to perfome mischief on
the homeowhers or their
propenrty if no theat is given.
 Trato o truco: niños en trajes
van de casa en casa en su
barrio, a menudo en
pequeños grupos, con el fin
de pedir golosinas como
caramelos, chupetines,
chocolates o dinero. Cuando
alguien abre la puerta, los
niños dicen: Truco o trato? el
truco es una amenaza para
realizar travesuras a los
propietarios si no hay un
trato.

