Pyramids – Egypt
The pyramids were build as burial place and monuments to the Pharaohs
As part of the religion, the Egyptians belive that the Pharaoh needed certain things
to succed in the afterlife.
Deep inside the Pyramids the Pharaoh would be buried with all sort of items and
treasure.
There are around 138 Egyptians Pyramids
The largest is the Great Pyramid of Giza (146 meters)
It was the tallest man-made structure for 3800 year.
Is one of the Seven Wonders of the Word
The Pyramid was made from
2.3 million of blocks weighing
5.9 million tons.
Scientists estimate it took
at least 20.000 workers
over 23 years
How the Pyramids were build
has been a mystery. The
archeologists believed that
thousand of slaves were used
to cut up the large blocks and
then slowly move them up the
pyramid on ramps.
Pharaohs generally started the
construction of their Pyramids
as soon they became ruler.
Somethimes fake burial chambers
or passages would be used to try
and trick grave robbers.
Deep inside the Pyramids lays the
Pharaoh burial chamber with
