What are OER?
 “Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning
 materials that are freely available online for everyone to
 use, whether you are an instructor, student or self-learner.
 Examples of OER include: full courses, course
 modules, syllabi, lectures, homework assignments, quizzes, lab

  1. Social networking, social bookmarking, blogging, videos, collaborative writing – all these buzzwords that you hear within Education – social media embodies all of these.
  2. Carl Rogers – famous psychologist and educator, who is credited with introducing the person-centred approach within psychology, or within education, the student-centred approach (the idea of considering and planning education from the individual student’s perspective).By introducing social media, you are obviously adding to their content knowledge, but you’re also enriching their experience and introducing new ways of learning. This is why we are so keen on social media within education.
  3. Blogs as you will know are online journals, with entries typically displayed in a reverse chronological order.Wanted to highlight a few examples. Attic = collaborative blog (note that you can have these)
  4. If you hope to aggregate resources, embed discussion forums etc, Google sites is a good way to do it.
