2. Process
• Fill the bottom of the plate with water.
• Put food color into the water and mix it up.
• Place the candle in the middle of the plate.
• Light the candle.
• Take the glass and place it over the lit candle.
• The water rises in the glass.
3. Explanation
•The flame on the candle needs oxygen to keep burning.
When all the oxygen inside the glass has been used , the
flame will go out.
4. •The gases remaining in the glass have lower pressure than
the atmospheric pressure on the outside of the glass.
•This higher atmospheric pressure from the outside pushes
the water from the plate up and into the glass.
