2. Halloween
Halloween is an ancient
festival which has its roots in
the Celtic festival of Samhain.
It takes place on October 31st.
It commonly includes activities
such as trick or treating,
wearing costumes and
attending costume parties,
carving jack-o'-lanterns, telling
scary stories, and watching
horror films.
Nowadays this festival is being
celebrated throughout the
world.
3. Boxing Day
In Britain, Boxing Day is usually
celebrated on the following day after
Christmas Day. Like Christmas Day,
Boxing Day is a public holiday.
Boxing Day is the day when families get
together. It is a day of watching sports
and playing board games with the
family.
Traditionally, Boxing Day is a day for
fox hunting. Besides, the day is marked
by the giving of Christmas boxes or
gifts, to service workers.
4. Guy Fawkes Night
Guy Fawkes Night (or
Bonfire Night) is Britain's
major celebration, which
takes place on the evening
of November 5th. There
are fireworks and people
make bonfires and burn
Guy Fawkes images as they
celebrate his failure to
blow up the Parliament
buildings in 1605.
5. Pancake Day
Pancake day is another
example of British festivals.
It is celebrated on the
Tuesday of Carnival when
people make pancakes and
run pancake races. That
day they eat all the eggs and
butter forbidden during
Lent.
6. May Day
May Day is the first day of
the month of May. It is the
time of year when warmer
weather begins and
flowers and trees start to
blossom. It is said to be a
time of love and romance.

May Queen and dancing
around a maypole.
