2. Early life. Troubled relationship with his father. Jackson 5 - how it all started.

3. Early life Michael Jackson was born on 29th August 1958. He was the 8th child of his family. He had 5 brothers and 3 sisters, his sixth brother died shortly after birth.He lived in a small 3 room house in Gary, Indiana which is an industrial suburb in Chicago.

4. Troubled relationship with his father Michael had a troubled relationship with his father. Joseph regularly whipped Jackson as a child. Jackson stated that he was physically and emotionally abused during rehearsals, though he also credited his father's strict discipline with playing a large role in his success. Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, broadcast in February 1993. He admitted that he had often cried from loneliness and he would vomit on the sight of his father. Jackson's father was also said to have verbally abused Jackson, saying that he had a fat nose, on numerous occasions

Jackson 5-How it all started The Jackson 5 consisted of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael Jackson.The Jackson brothers were guided early in their careers by their father Joseph Jackson, who was a former musician, and their mother Katherine Jackson , who watched over the boys during the early years. Tito recalled playing around with his father's guitar while he was away working on Gary's steel mills. One night, Joe discovered Tito had been playing his guitar after Tito broke a string. He saw their potential and in 1963, Jackie, Tito and Jermaine formed The Jackson Brothers, including hometown friends Reynaud Jones and Milford Hite on guitar and drums. By the end of the following year, the group's younger brothers Marlon and Michael joined the instrumental band playing Tambourine and Conga.
