2. Avižieniai basic school was founded in 1964. The
students were taught in three languages: Lithuanian,
Polish, Russian.
A new school building was opened in 1979.
The basic school was reorganized into the secondary
school in 1998.

4. Today students are taught in two languages, Lithuanian and
Polish. There are 208 students taught in Lithuanian and 120
students learning all subjects in Polish.
Valerija Orševska has been the
school headmistress since 2003.
The school offers special educational, psychological and
social assistance to students who require it, provided by a
qualified psychologist, a social worker, a speech therapist,
in collaboration with teachers.
