There are many reasons why we need to increase our
use of sustainable energy and use fewer fossil fuels.

3. Taking Care of the
Environment
The burning of fossil fuels releases carbon
emissions into the atmosphere, which is one
of the biggest causes of climate change. Sus-
tainable energy sources emit low – or no –
air pollutants.
Preserving Natural Resources
Fossil fuels are extracted from the earth and
used up in the production of energy, which
means they will eventually run out. Sustai-
nable energy sources have an infinite capa-
city to produce energy.
Cost-Effective
Once the means of production and the re-
levant infrastructure has been put in place,
sustainable energy is highly cost-effective to
produce when compared to the cost of ex-
tracting fossil fuels.
There is a global movement to transition as
much energy production as possible from
fossil fuels to sustainable solutions in line
with climate change targets.
