DESIGN CONCEPT
... to create an exciting environment that represents the image
of the company and characteristics of internet technology, I have
based my design concept on the speed, light and infinity.
The internet is still a relatively new and fast growing field
of the technology, expanding, going many different directions
and having unknown potential.

PROGRAM STATEMENT
I have been hired by David and Jennifer White to
design their home. David is a financial planner and his
wife is a part time bookkeeper. David and Jennifer are
both in their early 50’s. Their children are grown and
will have no impact on the design.
My client would like a kitchen that can be used by
two people at once. Mrs. White is a gourmet cook and
entertains often. She likes contemporary design with an
oriental emphasis and would like to incorporate warm
and natural materials. They would also like a sitting
space in the kitchen for chopping. An eating area
should be provided for four people. The space plan for
the family room will include seating for six to eight and
a television.
DESIGN CONCEPT
My design concept is based on the clients interest
in oriental design and need for organization and
function. I suggest to expand the kitchen area to-
wards the living room to gain additional space required
in order to accommodate two cooks. Proposed design
solution incorporates new appliances, high tech appli-
ances and earth tone color palette.

11. Design Studio 4 - Museum Design
PROGRAM STATEMENT
I have been asked to select an artist, and design a
museum to display their work as well as other exhibits.
The museum should consist of three main areas: the ex-
hibit space, the retail area, and the café. Importance is
placed on designing for my client, and the art.
The exhibit space will display 10-20 pieces. These
pieces will be displayed for 6 months and then move to a
new location, therefore I shall design all interior exhibit
walls to be moved and relocated at the next location. Natu-
ral light is a must, however direct light can be damaging to
the art.
The retail space area will sell art supplies, books,
fine paper, and stationary. The public should be able to
enter the area without entering the exhibit space.
The café will serve coffee, desserts, sandwiches,
salads, and soups. The food prepared at a local restaurant
and brought to this location, so a prep area will be needed,
but not a full kitchen. There shall be access to the roof
garden from the coffee shop.
DESIGN CONCEPT
… to design a museum of modern art, for the ex-
hibit of Andy Warhol. My design solution is based on in-
dustrial design, repetition of forms and shapes, and
layering.

PROGRAM STATEMENT
The objective was to design a rehabilitation center
for international children, which would also provide out-
patient services for local children.
There are many suffering children around the world.
Many of them live in the Third World countries, fighting
daily for their survival. These children need our help and
some of them a lot of medical attention. Their parents do
not have means to obtain the appropriate medical care,
and oftentimes seek help from nonprofit organizations,
such as Doctors Without Borders. When these children are
brought to the US for a major surgical procedure, they will
need a recovery facility to regain their strength before they
return to their home country. For that purpose, I chose to
design mixed in-patient/ out-patient rehabilitation facility
accommodating international children as well as local chil-
dren. This mixed arrangement would be most feasible for
the existence of such a facility and would provide interac-
tion for children from different cultural environments.
The designed space includes administration, public
spaces, educational facility, clinical and physical therapy
areas, vocational rehabilitation therapy (VRT), occupational
therapy, private and miscellaneous areas.
DESIGN CONCEPT
… to design transcultural interior spaces engaging
child’s mind and senses.
