1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
2. My music video uses the idea of other music videos by the way the
angles are used and how they move, and also using the idea of
using the conventions of a music video. This means having
someone that relates to the song that can also lip sync too. Not
only this but because my music video was a pop genre I chose to
challenge it with my group to go for an alternative pop which goes
against the conventions of a pop music video. A normal pop video
that I had researched showed that it is crazy, loud, has a lot of
colours and uses a lot of shots, however my group chose a pop
song which was a heartbreak song, so we went against everything
and did the opposite, so instead of using a lot of bright colours, we
used colours that matched the song and the meaning. We also
made sure that the music video had a lot of scenes but were
similar which was still the same as normal pop music videos but
instead we used less shots and angle movements so that it weren’t
extreme and went with the heartbreak song.
3. The digipack also was different to normal pop genre digipacks
because they usually have bright colours, a lot of colours and have
similar pictures, however we copied the idea of having similar
pictures but instead of it being colourful we decided to make it like
the music video and used colours that went with the song. The cd
cover and back cover use the same type of pictures with different
poses and style which made it look like a pop genre cd but with the
idea of making it alternative going against the conventions.
