How to file online income tax return of salary Income
1. FILE INCOME TAX RETURN ONLINE FOR
FINANCIAL YEAR ENDED MARCH 31, 2013.

2. How to file Income Tax Return
Assessment Year 2013-14
Please follow this simple steps.
1. Register your PAN in income tax portal
2. Download ITR- 1 in excel for AY 2013-
14.
3. Fill ITR-1
4. Generate FVU File
5. Upload the return in portal
6. Print the intimation and sent to CPC
4. Register your PAN in income
tax portal
Open the page
https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/index
.do
Click into new User – Register and then
Individual
Type your pan in small case and other details
Fill the Form having password, security
question, date of birth, Name, Father Name,
Phone and E mail ID
The details should be per PAN CARD
Not required in case already registered.
5. Download ITR- 1 in excel for AY 2013-
14
Download the ITR-1 from the following
option download
Open the excel file
Please note that ITR 1 is applicable only
for person having only Salary & Interest
Income.
In case you have other income, then
please refer the guidelines available in the
portal or take appropriate professional
assistance.
6. Fill ITR-1
SHEET – INCOME DETAILS
Enable Macros first
Only green marked cell to be fill.
Fill your Name, PAN, Address, Date of Birth E mail ID, Phone
Number etc.
Please note the following items
1. Return filed under section - 11-BeforeDueDt 139(1)
2. Residential Status - RES - Resident
3. Income from Salary / Pension (Ensure to fill Sch TDS1) – As
per form 16.
4. Income from one House Property – Loss on House Property **
5. Income from Other Sources (Ensure to fill Sch TDS2) - Bank
Interest
6. Deductions under Chapter VI A (Section) – Fill amount of
investment made under section 80 C, CCF, D etc. (refer Form
16)
7. Fill ITR-1
SHEET – TDS.
Carefully fill the below details as provided in Form 16.
any spelling or amount error will make return incorrect
.
Also fill the details of other TDS deducted carefully.

8. Fill ITR-1
Please note the details provided in TDS sheet are very
important. There should not be any kind of
typographical mistake while filling these .
You can also check the correctness of form 16A and
Form 16 by view Form 26AS which is available online
on portal .
Just after login go to tab – My account – View Tax
credit statement (Form 26AS).
Type your date of birth and then you will be redirected
to Form 26AS.
Check your TDS certificates in Form 26AS online and
in case any discrepancy is there contact your
employer and bank accordingly.
10. Fill ITR-1
SHEET – TAXES PAID AND VERIFICATION
Fill Bank details, Name etc
SHEET – 80G
To be filled only in case of donation claim
After this click on calculate tax and verify that
correct amount of tax calculated in ITR.
11. Generate FVU File
Click on Generate tab
In case any defect is there same will be
pop up.
After rectifying the defects, click again on
generate tab
It will be directed to another Pre_XML
sheet
Click on save XML
A XML files will be generated – save the
same in desired location.
12. Upload the return in portal
Login in portal
Select – Submit Return – AY 13-14.
Select Form Name – ITR -1.
Do you want to Digitally Sign the File – No.
Next
Select the XML File * - Browse the XML
file saved in desired location.
Upload
Your Income tax return has been
uploaded now.
13. Print the intimation and sent to
CPC
Download the intimation
Open the intimation
The password is PAN and date of birth in small
case
Print the Intimation and verify
Sign the intimation
Sent the intimation via normal or speed post to
Income Tax department – CPC, Post Box
No.1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore –
560100.
After few days, a e mail confirmation will come
in respect of receipt of the intimation by CPC.
