This document provides an overview of burial practices and megalithic monuments from ancient Tamilakam. It discusses urn burials that were common and different types of megalithic structures like stone circles, dolmens, cists, and menhirs. It also mentions artifacts found like iron tools, black and red wares, and references literature from the Sangam period that corresponds to the megalithic era. Major occupations of coastal regions included fishing and salt production through evaporating sea water in salt pans. Trade was controlled by the Chera, Pandya and Chola kingdoms known together as the Moovendans.
