This document provides an overview of burial practices and megalithic monuments from ancient Tamilakam. 17. SANGHAM LITERATURE
The megalithic monuments and the ancient Tamil
songs belong to the same period. Auvvaiyar, a
famous poet during Sangham period.
Like Auvvaiyar, there were several
women poets during that period. Kapilar,
Paranar etc were the major poets of the period.

Fishing and salt

region Neytal. Salt was
made by evaporating the
sea water held in the salt

22. Trade was controlled by three power centres namely
the Cheras, the Pandyas, and the Cholas. They were
together called Moovendans.
