2. MY PITCH
I have decided to follow the print brief and make a music magazine front cover, contents
page and double page spread. I initially chose the Pop genre and this decision has been
backed up by my audience research which found that this was the most popular genre of
music within the people in my target audience. One of the main parts of my research was
the textual analysis of existing media, form research and conventions. I found this
research section to be very beneficial as it allowed me to see what is successful in current
magazine and which conventions I would like to stay away from. One of these was that I
would not like to have a colour theme that is too bright and I also do not want to have a
lot in the front cover as I feel this makes it look cluttered and immature.
I also decided that my target audience would be people between the ages of 15 and 30.
This is because my magazine would be for up to date artists who are in the charts and
people between these ages are likely to enjoy this type of music. Due to this age range
beginning in the older teens it would be more mature age range meaning that my decision
to have a less cluttered magazine would be good because they would be attracted to a
more mature design.
From my own opinion and from my social media audience research I have decided that
men in my magazine will be represented as being laid back and confident in what they do
and this will make them appealing and likeable. Women will be presented as being
empowered and confident as this sends a good message to my target audience that
women are not to be objectified as they often are in the media.
