There are two main types of guitars: acoustic guitars and electric guitars. Acoustic guitars produce sound acoustically through the vibration of the strings, while electric guitars rely on pickups, amplifiers, and speakers to produce sound. Some common types of acoustic guitars include classical guitars, steel guitars, and twelve-string guitars. Electric guitars can have solid, chambered, or hollow bodies, and include semi-acoustic and full hollowbody varieties. Many popular guitar brands make both acoustic and electric guitars.
