All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project.Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I will host a 5K walk/run for anyone in the area and all of the money will go to the Etowah
Valley Humane Society.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have ran as a competitive sport for seven years, but I have never hosted a race run/walk
that’s proceeds will help a local shelter.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
This project will help with my goal of being a sports event planner.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
I will first have to spend time to rake, clean, and map out the course to make it a safe run. The
race will be held at Woodland High School with the permission from Dr. Williams (the principal).
After I have the course clean I will then get medals made for the top runners. I will have fliers with
the information about the race to pass around and also post information on social media sites. The
day before the race I will have to go to the course and mark it for the runners to know what direction
to go in. On the day of the race I will have a place for people that have brought the fliers with their
information to sign in and deposit their money. I will also have an area for last minute runners to sign
in. Once the race is over, I will distribute the medals to the top runners with the help of volunteers.
After all of the above is finished, I will contribute the money to the Woodland High School and
Woodland Middle School cross country teams. I will show the create a portfolio of some of the items
from the race to present to the judges.
5) How is this projecta “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project will show me how physically intensive it will be to put together a run/walk for a
community of people and how well I will act under stress of making sure everything goes smoothly
and try to not have any mess ups.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
The estimated cost will be around $150 to $200. I will fund this cost with my own money and
some help from my parents. I will have most of the equipment already provided for the race from my
facilitator.

2. 7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I am considering my Project Facilitator being Lance Marvel.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Lance Marvel has been a cross country coach for many years and has also hosted many races
so I know he will help me with all of the stressful planning to come.
