Last week it was the editor's meet to do some brain sortie on the club
bulletin. Dr. Prahlad, the present editor of “About Us” came up with an
innovative thinking of inviting past, present and future editors of all
Rotary clubs of Mysore. The Editor's Meet was presided by the Vice
President of the club Rtn Bhanuchandran in the absence of president
Rtn Raghavendra. It was a sizable audience and Rtn Ramki spoke about
the history of the club bulletin “About Us”. He expressed his happiness
about being editor by saying the words “I was the editor, just 3 times”.
His words say that he is not satisfied with his tenure of 3 years and he
wants more. He had brought along with him old copies of “About Us”
which was printed in 1996 in typeset printing press. He spoke about the
long history of “About Us” and how in those years he had to visit the
printing press and spend time in proof reading and bringing out an error
free bulletin. He wished that the club will continue with the bulletin and
asked the future editors to do a better job with the latest technology.
Rtn Rakesh, with impeccable English and well prepared power point presentation explained the
sources of information for the bulletin. His presentation was very useful for all Rotarians, especially the
future editors of all clubs. He also mentioned, when he was the editor the club bulletin was featured at
the national level. He asked all the future editors to make use of the sources of information and bring out
quality bulletin.
The Financial & Management guru Rtn Bhanuchandran explained what an ideal bulletin should
contain. If the club bulletin is to compete
for an award, what all points should be
kept in mind while printing and editing the
bulletin. He explained in detail, the marks
awarded to the bulletin for publishing
rotary news, the 4 way test and rotary
quiz. He hoped that all future editors of all
clubs will keep in mind the points he
explained to bring out the best bulletin.
Woman Power, Ann Anuradha
Nandhakumar spoke on the subject of
how the rotary family should be involved

President's Message
My Dear Rotarians,
Last week we had a meaningful celebration of Magazine month with past, present & future editors
of our Club sharing their experience. Presence of editors from other clubs added more colour to the
programme. Kudos to Dr. Prahlad for making the evening memorable one. Finally we have submitted
all the records of projects towards District Awards 2011-12 to the AG Rtn. Aa.Cha. Ashok Kumar well in
time. This has happened only because of our vice-president Rtn. Bhanuchandran who has worked day
& night from past one month & our past president Rtn. Dr.Bheemesh along with his colleague
Manjunath gave a final shape to it. I immensely thank all of them for making it happen. Today let us lend
our hand to Shakthi Dhama Women Rehabilitation Centre to reach within to embrace humanity.
Bye till next week….
Thank You Rtn. Raghavendra

Rtn Srinivasan spoke on the economics of bringing a
club bulletin. He explained in detail about the number
of issues brought in a year and the number of copies
per week and the cost involved. He was in the idea that
whatever bulletin is being printed right now is good
and also necessary to continue with the same or even
better. He said that there is no point in cutting down
the printing and publishing cost of the bulletin as the
charm of the bulletin wade away if we try to bring a
cheaper quality bulletin. His views were that a good
quality, coloured physical bulletin is better than a
cheaper version or the web version. So he desired that

Destination Cambodia - A brief intro
21 rotarians from our club are attending the
International Convention @ Thailand. Since we
have some Thailand citizens who are familiar with
the country and can give you information about
that country, I thought that I must enlighten my hours. Khmer cuisine is closely related to those in

fish and shellfish are both abundant and delicious.
Western food is provided only in the major cities
although other Asian dishes are widely available.
Cambodia has a hot and humid tropical climate.
The local currency is called Riel and the present
conversion rate is Re1 = 77.35 KHR. The traditional
clothing for both men and women is the krama, a
long, narrow checked silk or cotton cloth available
in most markets and shops. Bargaining is essential
for all souvenirs shopping, if travelers are to obtain
reasonable prices. When visiting temples or
pagodas, including those of the Angkor complex,
shorts and T-shirts are acceptable. Shoes (as well
as hats) are generally removed at the entrance to
Cambodia officially known as the Kingdom of
pagodas. For visits to the Silver Pagoda, which is

GOLD MEDALS RAIN - Congratulations
Ann Rashmi, wife of Rtn Balaji, bagged 4 gold medals in M.Ed at the recently
held convocation of Mysore University. She has also cleared the KSET
exams held in October 2011, where the pass percentage was a mere 4.5%
of the total number of people appeared. Being a busy mom of 2 daughters
she found time to attend regular college and has achieved wonders.
Midtown congratulates the role model who has set an example for many.
