GITAM Institute of Technology, located in the main campus at

                                                                     GITAM School of Technology in Hyderabad campus was
                                                                     established in 2009 in the industrial hub of the capital of
                                                                     Andhra Pradesh. The school offers B.Tech., and M.Tech,
                                                                     programmes in addition to 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+
                                                                     M.Tech.) programmes in ECE and Mechanical Engineering.
                                                                     To keep pace with advances in knowledge and industrial and
                                                                     societal needs, B. Tech. programme in Aeronautical
                                                                     Engineering was introduced from the academic year
                                                                     2011-12. The campus is anchored by highly qualified and

Bengaluru Campus
The establishment of Bengaluru Campus marks yet another
milestone in the annals of GITAM University. Located in over
50 acres of naturally scenic idyllic environment in Nagadenahalli,
close to Bengaluru International Airport, at a distance of 3.5
km from Doddaballapur Railway Station. The School of
Technology of Bengaluru Campus offers a perfect ambience
for pursuing engineering programmes. The School presently
offers B.Tech. programmes and 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+
M.Tech.) programmes in ECE and Mechanical Engineering.

1.3.    Eligibility Criteria:
        Pass in Intermediate or 10+2 examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (50% aggregate marks
        for B.Arch./B.Pharm.) in Mathematics or Biology, Physics & Chemistry and First Class or equivalent grade in
        the qualifying examination in single attempt from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent either in
        2013 or 2012 and Rank obtained in GAT(UGTP)-2013.

        The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of three sections:

2.1    The GAT(PGT)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Tech. programs

       The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of three sections.

                    apply to GITAM University for admission before the last date and the candidate has to attend counselling
                    as per the schedule.

                                      Admission to M.Pharmacy Programs
                                              GAT (PGP) 2013
3.1   The GAT(PGP)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Pharmacy
      programs offered at Visakhapatnam Campus.

3.2   Courses Offered:

                                           M.Pharmacy Programs (Two Years)
          Pharmaceutics                                                 Pharmacology
          Pharmaceutical Analysis & Quality Assurance                   Pharmaceutical Chemistry

3.3   Eligibility Criteria:
      Pass in B.Pharmacy from recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade and Score
      obtained in GAT (PGP) 2013.
3.4   Details of Admission Test GAT (PGP) 2013:
      The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of four sections.

4. General Information
4.1.   GAT - 2013 (GITAM Admission Test) will be conducted online for admission to UG and PG Programs of
       Technology and Pharmacy offered at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru Campuses.

4.3.   How to Apply
       Candidates can apply in any one of the following methods:
i)     Apply online at www.gitam.edu
ii)    Applications can also be obtained by post from Director-Admissions by sending a request on plain paper
       giving the candidate’s name with complete mailing address accompanied by DD for      1100/- ( 700/- for
       female candidates) drawn in favour of GITAM University payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank.
       Request for applications by post will be accepted upto 22 nd March, 2013.
iii)   Applications are available throughout India in
                    UNION BANK OF INDIA (List of Branches is available on the website).
                    INDIAN BANK (List of Branches is available on the website).
       The filled - in application along with Demand Draft for 1,000/- ( 600/- for female candidates), drawn in favor
       of GITAM UNIVERSITY, payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank, should reach Director-Admissions,
       GITAM UNIVERSITY, Gandhi Nagar Campus, Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam - 530 045, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA
       on or before 29th March, 2013.

4.4.   GAT-2013 ONLINE TEST CENTRES:
i)     The University will conduct online admission test at the following 32 test centres.




ii)    The final list of centres will be announced to candidates through the website www.gitam.edu. The University
       reserves the right to cancel any test centre and in such a case, candidates allotted to these centres will be
       accommodated in alternate test centres.
iii)   Candidates are advised to note that depending on the response, tests may be conducted only for a limited
       number of days in some of the centres. The final list of test centres, venues and days of test will be announced
       only after all the applications are received and candidates will be informed of the same through the university
       website so that the candidates can choose their centre, date and time for the test as per their convenience
       and availability of slots in any of these centres. Candidates should indicate 3 different test centres, in order
       of preference, in the application for consideration by the University.
iv)    The candidate has to register his/her name in the registration counter at the test centre. The e-hall tickets of
       the candidates will be verified to satisfy the identity of each candidate. The candidate has to produce any one
       of the following for photo identification: passport / driving licence / EC voter ID card / IT PAN card / school or
       college photo bearing ID card. Each candidate will be given a seat with a computer. Candidate must take the
       allotted seat at least 15minutes before the test commences.
v)      Candidates will not be allowed to carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other
        material except the e-hall ticket into the test hall. Candidates are also not permitted to bring calculators, slide
        rules, Clark tables and electronic watches with facilities of calculators, laptop or palmtop computers, personal
        stereo systems, walkie- talkie sets, mobile phones, paging devices or any other object/device that is likely to
        be of unfair assistance.
vi)     No candidate will be allowed to go outside the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of the test.
        Once a candidate leaves the hall, he/she cannot re-enter under any circumstances.
vii)    Smoking is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, cold drinks / snacks are not allowed into the test hall. There are no
        waiting facilities for family and friends at the test centre.
viii)   Candidates should maintain perfect silence. All actions of the candidate in the test hall will be closely
        monitored using web cam and closed circuit cameras. Any conversation or gesticulation or disturbance in
        the test hall shall be deemed as misbehavior and if any candidate is found using unfair means or
        impersonation, his/her candidature will be cancelled and they will be liable to be debarred from taking
        examination either permanently or for a specified period, as decided by the University. The University reserves
        the right to withhold result of such candidates.
ix)     Candidates must sign the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator. The candidate must fully obey
        the rules of the test centres, otherwise he / she will be automatically debarred from the test.
x)      In rare and unlikely event of a technical failure during the test, the candidate may be required to take the test
        again.

4.5.    About GAT - 2013
i)      Candidates should arrive at the test centre one hour before the scheduled time. There will be an on-site
        orientation prior to the start of the test. If a candidate arrives after the on- site orientation begins, he/she will
        not be allowed to take the test. If candidates do not report on time, they are likely to miss some of the general
        instructions relating to the test. The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of the
        test.
ii)     The candidate is expected to have basic familiarity with use of computer like use of keyboard and mouse
        operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing for the test and
        the University cannot take any responsibility for the same.
iii)    The questions are generated from a large question bank and all the candidates will get different question
        sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content,
        question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the University is final and binding on the candidate.
iv)     The candidate must ensure that the computer allotted to him/her is switched on and any problem with the
        computer is to be intimated to the Proctor immediately. All the questions will be in English medium only. All
        the questions will be of multiple choice.
v)      Each question carries 3 marks. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted from
        the score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive no marks.
vi)     Score Report: On completion of the test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of total
        correct answers and wrong answers, with the score.
vii)    No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.
viii)   The ranks secured by the candidates will be announced within 2 weeks from the date of completion of
        GAT-2013.

4.6.    Merit List for Admissions
i)      The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained in the GAT-2013
        subject to the rule of reservation as per UGC guidelines / norms as applicable to the University. A candidate
        qualified in GAT-2013 will be eligible for admission only if he/she fulfils the requirement of minimum marks
        in the qualifying examination as per the eligibility criteria.
ii)     25% of seats are reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission at
        Bengaluru Campus.
4.7.       Direct Admission to Board Toppers
           First rank holders of the central and all state board examinations - 2013, equivalent to 10+2 will be given
           admission to the program of their choice, without appearing for the GAT examination subject to their
           fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria mentioned above. However they have to submit an application
           seeking admission to B.Tech. programs.

4.8.       Special Provision for Female Candidates
           GAT-2013 registration fee for female candidates is `600/- only. Further, the University will try its best to
           accommodate all female candidates at the test centre of their first preference.
4.9.       Financial Assistance

           The University offers financial assistance to the deserving meritorious candidates as follows:

i)         Merit Scholarships will be offered by way of tuition fee waiver for top 100 rankers of GAT (UGTP) 2013.

           The continuation of these scholarships for the subsequent years will depend upon their academic
           performance.

ii)        Merit–cum-Means Scholarships will be awarded to 5% of students in each department of the academic
           institutes of the University @ 2,000/- per month depending upon merit of the student and income of the
           parent.

iii)       Stipends / Teaching Assistantships will be offered to meritorious students of M.Tech. & M.Pharmacy depending
           upon the need and availability of suitable candidates, subject to a maximum of three students in each
           department @ 5,000/- per month.

Important points to note :
i.         Hall Tickets will not be sent by post.
ii.        The University is not responsible for delay in receipt or loss of Application.
iii.       In all matters in the conduct of GAT–2013, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor will be final. All disputes
           pertaining to GAT–2013 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam.
iv.        Every effort has been made by GITAM University to ensure the correctness of the information provided in this
           document. However, in case of a conflict in interpretation, the decision of GITAM University is final and
           binding on those who apply for GAT2013.

GITAM UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES Visakhapatnam Campus GITAM Institute of Technology, located in the main campus at Visakhapatnam, is globally recognized as a premier institute in technology and engineering. The Institute offers B.Tech., M.Tech., and 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+ M.Tech.) programmes in various engineering disciplines. Intensive industry-academia interface enables the students to have hands-on experience which strengthens their employment potential. Hyderabad Campus GITAM School of Technology in Hyderabad campus was established in 2009 in the industrial hub of the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The school offers B.Tech., and M.Tech, programmes in addition to 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+ M.Tech.) programmes in ECE and Mechanical Engineering. To keep pace with advances in knowledge and industrial and societal needs, B. Tech. programme in Aeronautical Engineering was introduced from the academic year 2011-12. Separate hostel facilities are available both for boys and girls. Bengaluru Campus The establishment of Bengaluru Campus marks yet another milestone in the annals of GITAM University. Located in over 50 acres of naturally scenic idyllic environment in Nagadenahalli, close to Bengaluru International Airport, at a distance of 3.5 km from Doddaballapur Railway Station. The School of Technology of Bengaluru Campus offers a perfect ambience for pursuing engineering programmes. The School presently offers B.Tech. programmes and 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+ M.Tech.) programmes in ECE and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to B.Tech. & B.Pharmacy Programs GAT (UGTP) 2013 1.1 The GAT(UGTP)-2013 (Online Admission Test)* is conducted for admission to the following programs 1.2 Courses offered: 4 Year B.Tech. Programs Visakhapatnam Hyderabad Bengaluru Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Mechanical Engineering (MEC) Electrical & Electronics Engineering EEE) Information Technology (IT) Civil Engineering (CIV) Industrial Engineering (IE) Biotechnology (BIO) -- -- Aeronaurical Engineering (AER) -- -- # Architecture (5 Year B.Arch. Programme) (ARCH) -- -- 5 Year Dual Degree (B.Tech.+M.Tech.) B.Tech. + M.Tech. (ECE) B.Tech. + M.Tech. (Mechanical) 4 Year B.Pharmacy -- -- * Subject to the MHRD / UGC Regulations 1.3. Eligibility Criteria: Pass in Intermediate or 10+2 examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (50% aggregate marks for B.Arch./B.Pharm.) in Mathematics or Biology, Physics & Chemistry and First Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination in single attempt from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent either in 2013 or 2012 and Rank obtained in GAT(UGTP)-2013. # Note: Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch., program should qualify in NATA examination. 1.4 Details of GAT (UGTP) 2013: The duration of the test is 2 hours. Programs GAT (PGT) 2013 2.1 The GAT(PGT)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Tech. programs offered at Visakhapatnam Campus. 2.2 Courses Offered: M.Tech. Section Subject No. of Questions No. of Marks A Numerical Data Analysis / Quantitative Analysis 40 120 B Reasoning & Intelligence 30 90 C Verbal Ability 30 90 Total 100 300 Note: i) All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions), each question has four options out of which one is the correct answer. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted from the score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive nil marks. ii) GATE qualified candidates will be exempted from appearing for GAT (PGT) 2013, but they need to apply to GITAM University for admission before the last date and the candidate has to attend counselling as per the schedule. 2.5 Syllabus for GAT (PGT) 2013: visit www.gitam.edu Admission to M.Pharmacy Programs GAT (PGP) 2013 3.1 The GAT(PGP)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Pharmacy programs offered at Visakhapatnam Campus. 3.2 Courses Offered: M.Pharmacy Programs (Two Years) Pharmaceutics Pharmacology Pharmaceutical Analysis & Quality Assurance Pharmaceutical Chemistry 3.3 Eligibility Criteria: Pass in B.Pharmacy from recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade and Score obtained in GAT (PGP) 2013. 3.4 Details of Admission Test GAT (PGP) 2013: The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of four sections.   • 6. 4. General Information 4.1. GAT - 2013 (GITAM Admission Test) will be conducted online for admission to UG and PG Programs of Technology and Pharmacy offered at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru Campuses. 4.2. GAT- 2013 Online Tests Programs Test B.Tech., 5 Year Dual Degree (B.Tech+M.Tech.) GAT (UGTP) 2013 B.Arch., B.Pharmacy M.Tech. GAT (PGT) 2013 M.Pharmacy GAT (PGP) 2013 4.3. How to Apply Candidates can apply in any one of the following methods: i) Apply online at www.gitam.edu ii) Applications can also be obtained by post from Director-Admissions by sending a request on plain paper giving the candidate’s name with complete mailing address accompanied by DD for 1100/- ( 700/- for female candidates) drawn in favour of GITAM University payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank. Request for applications by post will be accepted upto 22 nd March, 2013. iii) Applications are available throughout India in UNION BANK OF INDIA (List of Branches is available on the website). INDIAN BANK (List of Branches is available on the website). The filled - in application along with Demand Draft for 1,000/- ( 600/- for female candidates), drawn in favor of GITAM UNIVERSITY, payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank, should reach Director-Admissions, GITAM UNIVERSITY, Gandhi Nagar Campus, Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam - 530 045, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA on or before 29th March, 2013. 4.4. GAT-2013 ONLINE TEST CENTRES: i) The University will conduct online admission test at the following 32 test centres. ii) The final list of centres will be announced to candidates through the website www.gitam.edu. The University reserves the right to cancel any test centre and in such a case, candidates allotted to these centres will be accommodated in alternate test centres. iii) Candidates are advised to note that depending on the response, tests may be conducted only for a limited number of days in some of the centres. The final list of test centres, venues and days of test will be announced only after all the applications are received and candidates will be informed of the same through the university website so that the candidates can choose their centre, date and time for the test as per their convenience and availability of slots in any of these centres. Candidates should indicate 3 different test centres, in order of preference, in the application for consideration by the University. iv) The candidate has to register his/her name in the registration counter at the test centre. The e-hall tickets of the candidates will be verified to satisfy the identity of each candidate. The candidate has to produce any one of the following for photo identification: passport / driving licence / EC voter ID card / IT PAN card / school or college photo bearing ID card. Each candidate will be given a seat with a computer. Candidate must take the allotted seat at least 15minutes before the test commences.
  • 7. v) Candidates will not be allowed to carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material except the e-hall ticket into the test hall. Candidates are also not permitted to bring calculators, slide rules, Clark tables and electronic watches with facilities of calculators, laptop or palmtop computers, personal stereo systems, walkie- talkie sets, mobile phones, paging devices or any other object/device that is likely to be of unfair assistance. vi) No candidate will be allowed to go outside the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of the test. Once a candidate leaves the hall, he/she cannot re-enter under any circumstances. vii) Smoking is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, cold drinks / snacks are not allowed into the test hall. There are no waiting facilities for family and friends at the test centre. viii) Candidates should maintain perfect silence. All actions of the candidate in the test hall will be closely monitored using web cam and closed circuit cameras. Any conversation or gesticulation or disturbance in the test hall shall be deemed as misbehavior and if any candidate is found using unfair means or impersonation, his/her candidature will be cancelled and they will be liable to be debarred from taking examination either permanently or for a specified period, as decided by the University. The University reserves the right to withhold result of such candidates. ix) Candidates must sign the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator. The candidate must fully obey the rules of the test centres, otherwise he / she will be automatically debarred from the test. x) In rare and unlikely event of a technical failure during the test, the candidate may be required to take the test again. 4.5. About GAT - 2013 i) Candidates should arrive at the test centre one hour before the scheduled time. There will be an on-site orientation prior to the start of the test. If a candidate arrives after the on- site orientation begins, he/she will not be allowed to take the test. If candidates do not report on time, they are likely to miss some of the general instructions relating to the test. The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. ii) The candidate is expected to have basic familiarity with use of computer like use of keyboard and mouse operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing for the test and the University cannot take any responsibility for the same. iii) The questions are generated from a large question bank and all the candidates will get different question sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the University is final and binding on the candidate. iv) The candidate must ensure that the computer allotted to him/her is switched on and any problem with the computer is to be intimated to the Proctor immediately. All the questions will be in English medium only. All the questions will be of multiple choice. v) Each question carries 3 marks. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted from the score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive no marks. vi) Score Report: On completion of the test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. vii) No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year. viii) The ranks secured by the candidates will be announced within 2 weeks from the date of completion of GAT-2013. 4.6. Merit List for Admissions i) The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained in the GAT-2013 subject to the rule of reservation as per UGC guidelines / norms as applicable to the University. A candidate qualified in GAT-2013 will be eligible for admission only if he/she fulfils the requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying examination as per the eligibility criteria. ii) 25% of seats are reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission at Bengaluru Campus.

Direct Admission to Board Toppers First rank holders of the central and all state board examinations - 2013, equivalent to 10+2 will be given admission to the program of their choice, without appearing for the GAT examination subject to their fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria mentioned above. However they have to submit an application seeking admission to B.Tech. programs. 4.8. Special Provision for Female Candidates GAT-2013 registration fee for female candidates is `600/- only. Further, the University will try its best to accommodate all female candidates at the test centre of their first preference. 4.9. Financial Assistance The University offers financial assistance to the deserving meritorious candidates as follows: i) Merit Scholarships will be offered by way of tuition fee waiver for top 100 rankers of GAT (UGTP) 2013. Rank Tuition Fee Exempted for First year 1-10 100 % 11-100 50 % The continuation of these scholarships for the subsequent years will depend upon their academic performance. ii) Merit–cum-Means Scholarships will be awarded to 5% of students in each department of the academic institutes of the University @ 2,000/- per month depending upon merit of the student and income of the parent. iii) Stipends / Teaching Assistantships will be offered to meritorious students of M.Tech. & M.Pharmacy depending upon the need and availability of suitable candidates, subject to a maximum of three students in each department @ 5,000/- per month. Important Dates and Deadlines for GAT - 2013 Last date for receipt of filled-in Applications : 29th March 2013 Online Slot Booking : 5th to 12th April 2013 Download of E-Hall-Tickets : 5th April 2013 onwards Online Tests at different Centres : 17th April to 8th May 2013 Announcement of Test Results : 20th May 2013 Important points to note : i. Hall Tickets will not be sent by post. ii. The University is not responsible for delay in receipt or loss of Application. iii. In all matters in the conduct of GAT–2013, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor will be final. All disputes pertaining to GAT–2013 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam. iv. Every effort has been made by GITAM University to ensure the correctness of the information provided in this document. However, in case of a conflict in interpretation, the decision of GITAM University is final and binding on those who apply for GAT2013.
