R.P. Goenka was born in 1930 in Calcutta and graduated from Presidency College in 1950. He took a job at Duncan Brothers, which his father later bought and grew into a large, prosperous company. R.P. Goenka founded RPG Enterprises in 1979 which has grown to a business group with over 15 companies and a revenue of 15,000 crore. He currently serves as the Chairman Emeritus of RPG Group while also holding positions like an MP in the Rajya Sabha and as a trustee for the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund and Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

4. INTRODUCTION
Rama Prasad Goenka was born on March 1, 1930, to Keshav Prasad and Rukmini Devi Goenka
in Calcutta.
He graduated from the Presidency College in Calcutta, in 1950. His father Keshav Prasad got RP
a job in a British company called Duncan Brothers as an Assistant.
RP was unhappy working in Duncan Brothers due to the racism that existed there. But his
father requested him to stay on.This was because Keshav Prasad's dream was to take over Duncan
Brothers one day.
Keshav Prasad's dream eventually came true when he bought over Duncan Brothers in the early
1960’s, which was lauded as a major achievement at that time.
Under his aegis, and his sons' support, Duncan Brothers grew to become a huge and Prosperous
company.
5. Current Status
Rama Prasad Goenka is the chairman emeritus of the RPG group.
He is currently an M.P. In the rajya sabha, or upper house, of the indian parliament.
