American artist Alexa Meade creates optical illusions by painting directly onto human subjects with acrylic paint, making the subjects appear as living 2D paintings. The 24-year-old grew up in Washington D.C. and previously worked in politics before pursuing art, and her latest work is an interactive painting installation called The Meade Museum shown at Art Basel Miami Beach.

at an intersection between photography, installation, performance and
painting. Instead of using acrylic to portray people portraits on
canvases, Meade paints directly on their subjects, giving the impression
that these are a painting within the work itself.
Miss Meade, 24, grew up in Washington D.C. and had previously
worked on Capitol Hill as an intern, before working on Barack Obama’s
Presidential campaign.
