6. DESERT The driest Biomes . No rain – or little precipitation per year. Desert plants and animals with adaptations for living there. Cactus Camels
7. GRASSLANDS Dry biomes with more rain that deserts Home to grazing animals Cover one third of the United States Bison, antilopes and kangaroos . Two seasons: wet / dry
8. FORESTS Biomes with many trees growing together Temperature / rainfall determine them Rainforest: more than 80 – 200 inches of rain More kinds of plants and animals than any other biome on Earth Insects – birds – frogs – snakes - monkeys

Good morning, my name is Ma. Belén Carrillo, today we wll learn about a very interesting topic………….. BIOMES
Do you know what a Biome is?? Well, it is a large place – with a certain climate – that includes plants and animals – suited or adapted to that climate.
There are some kinds of biomes in the world. Let´s see which they are…Tundra – Taiga – Forest – Grassland - Desert
Now, we wll talk about TUNDRA. As you can see in the picture, it is a frozen grassland – it has very little rain or snow. So very few plants grow there – some of the animals that live in the tundra are: polar bear – artic hares – lemmings - foxes
The second kind of BIOME is TAIGA…… Is ist the same as the Tundra??? No! It is a very coled place, but it is a little warmer than the Tundra – Is has short summers and long winters! We can find evergreen trees! Which animals can we find there? Elks – mooses – bears - birds
Now, let´s talk about a desert! It is the driest biome of the world – and the animals and plants that live there need special characteristics called adaptations to live there – which animal lives in a desert? CAMEL - which plant can we see there? CACTUS
Now the turn is for GRASSLANDS! They are dry biomes too, but there receive more rain than the desert – grasslands are home for grazing animals (animals that eat the grass) – one third of USA is covered with grasslands – they have 2 seasons: a wet and dry season – Animals that live there?? Bison – Kangaroo - antilopes
Next – we have FORESTS – What are forests? They are biomes with many trees growing together – the temperature and the rainfall determine the kind of forest it is – This Biome has more kinds of plants and animals than any other biome on Earth – the forest that receives more than 80 – 200 inches of rain are called RAINFOREST – what animals can we find there? INSECTS – BIRDS – FROGS – SNAKES – MONKEYS.
And at last: AQUATIC BIOMES! They are home of sea creatures. We have 2 kinds of aquatic biomes: freshwater and saltwater. Saltwater include the oceans of the world – and freshwater refers to lakes – ponds – rivers and streams – Saltwater are called also marine biomes, and the plants that live there need sunlight for photosynthesis.
It´s been a pleasure to be with you! See you another time. Thanks
