1. This photo was taken by me outside of my school. I chose
to center my subject in the center of the image to make
them the main focus . This is inspired by Steve McCurry's
iconic photo “The Afghan Girl”. In addition to this I used
photo shop to adjust the brightness, saturation,
shadowing, highlighting, contrast and vibrancy of the
picture. The colours in my photo contrasts each other and
over all gives my image a more colorful look.
2. For this photo I chose to capture a candid
moment in my school inspired by Henry
Carter. Additionally, I edited my photo in
black and white ensuring that the moment
of interaction between my two subjects is
focused on.
3. This is I photo I took in my local park.
It is inspired by Dorothea Langes “Oak”
photo. I colored my image in black and
white and took it from a worm's eye
view angle to capture the full essence of
the branches.
4. This photo was taken from the
window of my bedroom. It is inspired
by Steve Mcurry and his ability to
capture in their natural habitats with
striking composition and emotional
depth. I aimed to emulate McCurry's
artistic vision by capturing the
essence of the pigeons relaxing in the
sun.
5. This photo was taken on Portobello Road and is
inspired by Henry Carter's ability to skilfully blend
architecture and humanity in his captivating
compositions. Just like Carter, I aimed to capture the
dynamic interaction between the architectural
elements and the people inhabiting the scene. The
contrast of the vibrant street with its unique
buildings and the individual going about their day
creates a clear moment of urban life.
6. This photo was taken by myself in Poland at
Auschwitz Birkenau. The emphasis on the
leading lines creates a visual connection
between the photo and the viewer. This relates
to Dorothea Langes powerful photography
particularly her iconic images depicting the
Great Depression. Much like Lange, I aimed to
evoke an emotional response and raise
awareness about a significant historical event
through visual storytelling.
7. This photo, inspired by Steve McCurry
incorporates a variety of colors and objects that
creates a visually captivating scene. Inspired by
McCurry's ability to capture the essence of
people and their stories through his
photography, this image aims to evoke a sense
of curiosity, empathy,
8. In this photo (inspired by Henry Carter) I
didn’t want there to be one main focus as I
wanted to capture the calmness of the
atmosphere in the room rather than one
specific element. The visuals of shadows and
sunlight creates a nice effect. The soft light
makes the scene peaceful, and the mix of
light and dark adds depth and texture. This
technique, like what Henry Carter does,
makes the photo feel calm and invites
people to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in
the room.
9. This image is inspired displays a posed photo of two
subjects. The variety of colours incorporates aspects
of Steve McCurry's photography. By taking
inspiration from McCurry's photography, this image
seeks to copy his ability to create visually compelling
and emotionally connecting images through the
skilful use of colour and composition.
10. This photo is inspired by Dorothea Langes
ability to capture emotion from her subjects in
the photos she takes. This image focuses on one
subject looking playful as well as joyful. To
emphasise Lange's photographic style, I chose to
colour the image in black and white. By
removing the distraction of colour, the viewer's
attention is directed towards the subject's
expression and the emotions conveyed.
