Maarten Brinkerink will introduce the Dutch approach to a national, cross-sector infrastructure of digital heritage facilties, as formulated in the National Digital Heritage Strategy. He will share insights gained from his personal involvement in the execution of this strategy, and reflect on its goals and ambitions. Focus of his introduction will be on the strategic choices that are crucial to the Dutch approach, and challenges and opportunities this creates for the future of digital heritage from the Netherlands.

• 29 Dutch GLAMs are active on Wikimedia
• Almost 880,000 heritage objects on Wikimedia
Commons (3% of the total offering)
• 54,000 heritage objects are actually reused (6%)
• They are spread across 110,000 Wikipedia articles,
which generates more than 155 million page
views in March 2016
• In six years time, pages containing Dutch heritage
objects together have generated more than 3
billion page views!!!
