2. WHAT IS A DIGIPAK
âą A Digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or
DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an
internal plastic holder for one or more discs.
âą Digipaks normally consist of a gatefold which
are common in books. They normally are
make from cardboard or paper for the outer
shell whilst the inside is made with plastic
capable of holding one or more CDs.
4. FRONT COVER
The Front cover usually features the artists picture,
artist name and the album name. It is normally a
close up of the artists face with them either staring
straight down the lens or of into the distance. The
backdrop for the pictures are normally on a plain
white or black background, or in a location that
matches the album name or has a well known
significance to the artist.
5. FRONT COVER
âą As you can see from the images below that the artists are usually the main focus of the
Digipaks with a simple backdrop to help reinforce the star identity. Its normally a mid shot
of the artist with their name and album title being the only text on the album.
âą The artist are normally in plain clothing or something that suits their genre and star
identity. For example, J.Cole is in typical clothing that he is normally seen in but also fits
his genre of R&B/HipHop, whilst Rihanna is in no clothing which suits here image of a wild
child.
6. BACK
COVER
âą As you can see that the Digipak back cover continues on from the front cover keeping
with the same or similar theme. They back covers are very simple and only contains the
relevant things like all the songs featured.
âą The back cover includes:
âą Songs Featured
âą Producers, and other music companies affiliated with the album and artist
âą The Font varies but usually very simple and easy to read and almost always in white on a
dark background.
7. INSIDE COVERS
âą The inside covers are really simple and continue on with the previous themes of the
front/back cover of the Digipak. It normally consist of more images of the artist in similar
locations. However, sometimes if it is the first album the artist has released they will have
some information about themselves on it.
8. FONTS
âą The fonts that are used on professional Digipaks are simple and carry on the house
themes of an artist. The London Grammar font that can be seen below, has been carried
on throughout previous albums. The font has become easily identified with the group and
can be seen as part of their star identity.
âą Our font is going to be similar to the ideas below as it will be bold and simple. It will be
unique to our album cover and advert as well as our artist.
âą Weâve done some research and have decided to find our own font rather than use one on
Photoshop.
