What have you learnt about
technologies in the process of
constructing this product?

2. When embarking on our coursework, we set about creating pages to display our
work on Fronter. Although I had used the website before, I had never created a page
on it. I learnt how to do this, as well as how to add text, images and videos to a page.
Furthermore, I discovered how to change the colour of text, and how to change and
design the layout of my page to make it my own – including inserting links between
pages. The use of this technology has enabled me to create an easy to use page to
display my coursework.

3. As part of my target audience research, I recorded two interviews with two
young people to analyze and put on my Fronter page. I used Final Cut Pro to edit these videos, adding
a title slide and a name before adding the interviews to my Fronter page. In order to do this, I had to
upload my videos to YouTube. This was something I had not done before, but I now know how to do.

4. When constructing my media product, I learnt a lot about how to use Photoshop CS6. For example, I
discovered how to use the magic wand tool, lasso tool and rubber tool to effectively remove the
background from some of my images. I also learnt how to create text to feature on my magazine, and
how to change the font, size, colour and shape of that text. As well as this, I altered my images in
different ways, changing the brightness, contrast, saturation and hue of my pictures. I used the paint
bucket tool to fill in letters of a word with an exact matching colour to a section of a particular image.
Furthermore, I used the layers in my media product to my full advantage, creating different visual
textures using overlapping. I also changed the opacity of some of my layers to create a desired look for
my product. By developing my skills in Photoshop over time, I have been able to design and create my
magazine with a professional look.
