2. Freedom – Music Video
My initial idea is to create a Pop/Rock Music Video with a CD
Cover and a Website for the Artist i am going to be using
which is a 14 year old girl who goes by the name of Aimee
who has given permission for me to use one of her original
songs. The song is called Freedom and the video will
represent the name and the lyrics the song has while also
being energetic and really fun.

3. Institution & Audience
• This music video will be distributed digitally on the internet which
will be on the Artists Website that I create and on a video site such
as YouTube or maybe something similar.
• On something like YouTube i can get audience feedback through the
use of comments and how people rate the video. This is a popular
place for unsigned artists looking for feedback and to get noticed.
• The Target Audience for the Music Video is 13 – 24 year old Females
who like to watch Online Media and Enjoy the Pop/Rock Genre of
Music.
• For the actual distribution of the Music if the singer was actually
well known I would put it on a CD with the Cover Art and have it
distributed in Music Stores and Supermarkets. As this is not
possible at the moment I would have to put it available for download
on the website.
4. Research on Teen Music
• Pop music oriented toward teenagers has been common since
at least the 1940's with the heyday of Frank Sinatra and
bobbysoxers. A significant common characteristic of teen-
oriented pop has been that it is designed from the top down
with a producer or record company executive creating the
concept then hiring a performer to carry it out on stage and
on record.
• The latest teen-oriented pop sees most of the performers
either writing the songs themselves or helping to write them.
• Teen Pop is a subgenre of pop music that is marketed and
oriented toward teenagers and preadolescents. Teen pop
covers genres and styles such as pop, dance, R&B, hip-hop
and rock.
5. Unsigned Artists
Unsigned artists tend to want to get themselves noticed to get a record deal. To get
noticed they often use sites such as MySpace where they can upload their own music
and sometimes offer it as a download while also having a profile which promotes the
artist. Some artists do acoustic covers on YouTube to get noticed also. Two unsigned
artists I know of that now have a record deal from singing covers on YouTube are
Savannah Outen and Esmee Denters.
Savannah opted for singing covers On the other hand Esmee opted to
of very recent Pop/Rock songs and sing some old classics and some
got noticed by Disney and now has modern songs. She got noticed by
Justin Timberlake and is now signed
one of her songs constantly playing to his record company Tennman
on Radio Disney and now has a records. She was the first ever singer
record deal with Keith Thomas of to be signed straight from a YouTube
Levosia Entertainment. Her first star to a Performer on Stage. She is
a Big Star in the Netherlands but
Music Video if you only knew was Her First Single Outta Here is
partly filmed as if she was filming a increasingly Popular in America
video for YouTube. Her Debut along with her debut album.

Another singer who has just been signed up is
Teenager Kristinia DeBarge who’s First Single
Goodbye was a hit in America. She has just been
signed to Sodapop Music and Island Records. She
first started singing when she was just 3 but didn’t
take it seriously until she was 12 years old when
she proved to her dad music was what she wanted
to do. Her debut album has yet to be Released.
6. Research on Music Videos
After watching a bunch of Pop/Rock music videos (Mostly
modern Teen Pop/Rock Music), I have found out that videos
with that genre tend to be really energetic videos such as
Miley Cyrus – Start All Over which features the artist dancing
around the streets with friends and ending with singing into
a microphone with an audience of people watching. Below are
some screenshots showing scenes from the music video.
In this video we see a lot of
Mid-Shots so we can see
her dancing and having
fun, there is also some
Close-up’s which show the
emotion on her face of
happiness and fun. While
she is singing we can see a
wide angle shot which
shows the crowd of her
fans enjoying what she's
singing.
7. Another Music Video which follows the general style for most Pop/Rock videos is Demi
Lovato’s and Selena Gomez’s Song One And the Same. The Video features the 2 friends
jumping around a set singing into microphones most of the time while other times just
having fun. The lighting is bright and the costumes worn represent the Pop/Rock style
of the music. In this video there is mostly Mid-Shots to show them dancing around and
having fun like in the Miley Cyrus Video Start all Over. Again there is a lot of Close-Up’s
showing the emotion on their faces which is happiness. Nearly all the time throughout
the video they are in a Two Shot which shows how close their relationship is and
reflects the song as it is called one and the same which is about two best friends liking
different things but been the same and being best friends. Below is some screenshots of

As you can see from
the screenshots the
girls are happy,
energetic and having
fun which is what I am
aiming for with my
video.
8. Research on Websites
Most artists have websites to advertise them and let the fans have more
than just their music, let the fans find out information on them and
also to find pictures and latest news and previews of songs and
videos to come from them. Some stars websites even have
merchandise shops but I wont be including one of those on my
website.
I am going to be creating a website for the artist which will feature a
bunch of things on like most other artists websites.
Most artists websites have the same theme of which their latest Single/
Album art has which changes when they have new cover art.
Over on the next page I will have screenshots of a few Artists websites
and what they include on them and they the themes they use.
9. As you can see on Miley Cyrus’s site
she has a Yellow, Red and White theme
which is the same as her latest Album
Breakout. On her site she has A Blog,
News, Gallery, Video, Bio, Exclusive,
Events, Newsletter, Twitter Updates,
Tour Information and music playing on
the homepage. From this for my website
I will add some of these features such
as A Bio, A Gallery, The music video I
create, etc
On Ashley Tisdale’s site she has
the theme Red, Black & White as
again this is the theme of her
latest album Guilty Pleasure. On
her site she has News, Info, Media,
Fans, Shop, Boards, Twitter
Updates, Music Playing on her
homepage and an option to sign up
to a newsletter.
10. Research On Cover Art
As well as a Music Video and a Website, I am going to be
creating the Cover art for the single or possible album which
will stand out and will be bold.
The cover art must have the same theme as the Website as my
research has shown and must stand out with exciting images
and fonts through the use of styles and colours.
On the next page I will be researching other Artists Cover art to
find out what sort of themes are on a Pop/Rock singers
Albums and see what colours they mostly use for that genre.
I was also be researching the outfits and costume to see what
sort of stuff pop/rock singers wear.
11. As you can see from the image Jordan McCoy’s Cover
art for her single Rockstar shows her tangled in a
microphone and striking a pose. The costume she's
wearing represents the Rock genre of her music. The
theme for this single is Red, Black and White. The
font used has a Rockstar theme to it and the red used
really makes it stand out.
Ashley Tisdale’s Latest single Masquerade has the
colour scheme as Pink, Black, White and Green. The
costume worn shows a mask which is what
represents Masquerade and the words used frame
around her so we can see she is the center of
attention on the cover which makes her stand out.
Demi Lovato’s Latest Single Here We Go Again has the
Colour Scheme of White and Pink which is the same
theme as her latest album. We can see that she is at
some sort of trashed abandoned party. The font used
for the cover really stands out because it’s a really
curly looking font. The outfit again suggests a
Pop/Rock genre kind of look.
12. Conclusion
From my Secondary Research I have found out that the Artists
Website and CD Cover Art both have the same theme. From
this I will be creating my Website and Cover with the same
theme.
Also I have noticed that the costume’s used in the picture on the
cover art and in the music video has a rock chick look to it
with T-Shirts, Waistcoats and Skinny Jeans with a few
accessories or a sort of stand out dress with a waistcoat.
Most Music videos I have seen the artists tends to have their
hair down and flowing so I will be following this Pattern of
costume.
