This document discusses the development of Scottish Skills Academies to provide comprehensive vocational education programs for students. It describes the existing model used in North Lanarkshire where college staff deliver skills courses to high school students in schools. Some of the programs offered include beauty therapy, hairdressing, construction, auto mechanics and hospitality. Challenges discussed include meeting increasing demand with limited resources. The document proposes further developing skills academies with colleges at the center to provide students alternative subject areas and progression routes with support from stakeholders.
