2. There are two
columns of text in this
article which doesn’t
exactly follow major
conventions. Two
columns of text is
fairly rare in double
page spreads.
The article has a
dominant image,
the person in the
image is the lead
singer of the band
but doesn’t have
eye contact with the
reader and this
which is unusual for
an interview article.
The pull quote which is the title is used
to attract readers in. It also gives an
insight into what the article could be
about.
The strap line under
the pull quote
explains the quote
and helps the reader
to understand the
context it.
The kicker is used to attract the reader in. it
tells the reader that the article is exclusive
and that they wont be able to read this
article anywhere else.
The colour palette used in this double page spread is slightly limited,
however works well. The read and white contrast well with the black
and at the same time attract the reader towards the title. It also works
well because the picture is black and white which stays in correlation
with the colour palette of the article.
3. In this double page
spread there are 3
columns of text, this
follows major
conventions, the

which makes them
stand out of from the
main block of text,
this also breaks the
text up.
The colour palette
used is very limited,
white pink black and
grey, these colours
work well and they
also correspond with
the main image which
is mostly black and

against main

the text isn’t dense and

The main image is in the

doesn’t follow major
conventions. It should be on
the left hand side of the
article but the image being in
the middle separates the
writing.
The colour scheme is very

5. Summary
• I feel that the Nicki Minaj double page spread is the only
magazine which is quite bright and relates to a particular
age group instead of music preference. However that
double page spread was the hardest to deconstruct
because there isnt a lot to talk about, the double page
spread is very simple but this is probably what suits that
age group best.
• The other two double page spreads were easier too write
about, both were detailed and had many different aspects
to the article.
• My personal favourite is the second deconstruction, it isnt
too dark but contrasts with the other colours. However on
this deconstruction it isnt exactly clear who the artist is and
that will be main selling point on my article.
