Committee Reports:
Curriculum Committee
Curriculum Committee Report for April 2014.
The curriculum committee is still working to schedule classes for the 2014 Fall Semester. There are still
open time slots…..mostly in November and December. If you are working on obtaining a speaker, please
finalize it and submit the completed Speaker Information Sheet to Al Pitre at the following email
address: pitre_al@hotmail.com
THE LAST DATE TO SUBMIT A SPEAKER INFO SHEET IS FRIDAY, APRIL 25TH !!
Both Al and Lou have been working hard on the Speaker Sheets, Calendar, and the
Spreadsheet. We must submit the Excel Spreadsheet for class building to Andrea in the CE
Department on Monday, April 28th so she can build the classes in the college system. She will
only have a few days to do this since she will be out of town May 1st - May7th. During that
week, we will be finalizing the Catalog Text and so that it can be turned into the college on May
9th.
Please, please, please continue to work on filling the open time slots on the Fall calendar. We
have just a few more days to finalize everything.
Thanks to all of those that have participated in scheduling classes…..your efforts are
appreciated.

2. Bus Trips
April 2014 Bus Trips Report for A.L.L.
On February 23 we enjoyed the musical ‘Anything Goes” at the historic Crighton Theater in
Conroe, followed by an all-you-can eat meal at Ryan’s Family Steak House. Our March 12 trip
took us to the Museum District for an architectural walking tour of Broadacres with
Preservation Houston. We had lunch at Cleburne’s, always excellent, and then visited the Menil
Collection and the Houston Center for Contemporary Crafts.
The trips we currently have planned for 2014 :
Thursday, April 24: Cuero (Wildflower Capitol of Texas)
Thursday, May 15: Glass bottom boat rides in San Marcos
Tuesday, June 3: Houston Mounted Police demonstration, lunch and a tour of St.
Arnold’s Brewery
Sunday, July 20: dinner and the musical “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” at Miller
Outdoor Theater
Monday, August 11: A guided tour of City Hall and a visit to the Downtown Tunnels
Wednesday, September 17: guided tour of Austin
Sign up for the second quarter trips was April 8 in HSC 105 & 106. It went very smoothly and
the committee received many compliments. All three trips are now filled but names can be
added to the wait list, which at this time are not long.
Sign up for the third quarter trips will be May 8 at 10AM in HSC 105 & 106 again.

Meet You There
The most recent Meet You There event was held on Thursday, March 27th. We went to the Pearl
Fincher Museum of Art for a docent-led tour of European (mostly French) furniture, paintings and
tapestries that are on loan by an area family. Afterwards we had lunch at Gringo's Mexican restaurant.
Our next gathering will most likely be to see a movie at the Cypress Cinemark theater on Friday, April
25th, movie title to be announced soon.
Thank you,
Evelyn Carrington
Action Items
1. According to Al Pitre’s spreadsheet, we have about 27 classes left to fill. Members are reminded to
submit classes by April 25th
.
2. Suggestions for the ALL 10th
anniversary party are being accepted. It is being tentatively planned for
December 3 or December 9. Cherly will get with Dr. Levy on those dates.
3. Student Symposium will be going on – students will show their projects. They will need to have room
hosts. If you are interested, please contact Cheryl.
4. It has been suggested that the registration for bus trips be removed from the Open House, due to the
success of April 8th
. A handout will be available at the Open House with next trips, cancellation rules,
etc. along with the date for the sign-up. This will alleviate the need to come to the Open House early to
get in line. Sharon will write up the handout.
5. There has been some interest in having classes at Cypress Center, but it has been decided that we will
not be having classes there.
6. Congratulations again to everyone involved with the April 8th
bus registration. It all went very
smoothly.
12:00 Noon Adjourned
This meeting was adjourned at 12:00 Noon. The next Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for
Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM, HSC Room 106.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Smith, Secretary
