1. Compare the production of films by Working Title, Warp X and Warner Bros.
Within this essay, you are expected to describe and analyse the characteristics
of production for the three studios. It needs to be written in full prose and not bullet-
pointed. You should write 500-700 words.
As it is a first essay, here is a possible outline:
Introduction (Keep it brief- 50 words):
- One sentence definition of what film production is
- Make a one sentence comment highlighting a main difference between the
three studios
Body:
- Focus on Working Title. What are the key points about the kinds of the films
that they produce?
- Use case studies (film examples) to back up your points
- Focus on Warp X. How does their production of films differ from Working
Title? What restrictions do they have? How is their funding situation different
from the other two studios?
- Use case studies to back up your points
- Focus on Warner Bros. How does their production of films differ from the
other two studios? What advantages do they have?
- Use case studies to back up your points
Conclusion (Keep it brief- no more than 50 words):
- Re-enforce in a couple of sentences the crucial differences between the three
studios
- Do not bring in ‘new’ points
You should use the current booklet to help with some information but also try to bring
in analyses from previous learning on conglomerates. Case studies (film examples)
can be ones that we have done or your own examples (as long as they are examples
from one of the studios).
