The purpose of this survey is to collect qualitative data based on a set of 10 questions about music
magazines in the form of primary research by an online questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent to
10 college students aged 16-18 which are in my target audience range. When designing a product
such as a music magazine it is important that you base the product on similar existing products and
also what the audience like so it meets the audience needs and they purchase your product.

The data results show that all the people who
answered this questionnaire were aged between 6-24
as it was only sent to college students as they are my
target audience range and the data that is collected
needs to be relevant to this audience.

This question is Important to consider when creating the
content of the magazine. The results show that I should
focus more on the images than text, as the audience are
young they prefer an equal mix of images and text. With
these results the conclusion is that most people prefer
images over text so I will make sure that my magazine
includes a range of good quality images that appeal to
the target audience.

The data results show that the most favourable music
genre for my target audience is RnB/Hip hop. When
looking at product research there weren’t really a
variety of RnB/Rap music magazines. I will ensure that
my magazine sticks to the key connotations of this
genre.
This set of data shows that just over half of the college
students were female; this data was just based on
who replied to the survey. I will be making my product
appeal to both males and females.

When deciding which text to include it is important that
the audience are interested in what is being written. The
results show that up and coming artists and interviews
are the most popular types of content to include. I will
add a small amount of competitions, reviews and recent
news.

Most of the target audience use social networking sites
such as Twitter and Facebook. This allows them to
socially interact with their friends, music companies and
music artists. It isn’t time consuming and doesn’t cost
money for the audience to utilise. This means it is a fast
way to receive information on their favourite artists.
