(More of Gen 3 grows up. And a Simming all-nighter results in accidental simself mishaps.)
Welcome back to Romancing the Apocalypse! Episode 5 left off as Gen 3's oldest, Haley, became an adult and the two youngest, Jake and Ciel, grew out of
their baby and toddler stages. Let's see what happens when sibling rivalry reaches a new level...and the family, simselves and creator go stir crazy....

2. I'm Haley, and I'll be taking over the story from here. Right now we have Dad and Vampa, two unemployed vampires; Mom, an unemployed Fortune sim;
Ciel and Jake, my little sister and brother; Kobe, our new cat who's working in the Show Biz career; and myself, employed in the Athletic career.
3. War broke out in our home on Jake's birthday when Ciel yipped with glee at Jake's pink PJs.
4. He made a beeline for the wardrobe when Mom told him where her old ones were.
5. He was a 9/7/9/3/1 Scorpio like me.
"Ick, Mom."
6. We all tended to gravitate toward the coffins, but they held a special fascination for Ciel.
"Get out, please, you're not supposed to be in there."
"But it's fun."
"You want fun? C'mere."
7. "This is what happens to girls who play in coffins when they're not supposed to."
"Hee-hee! Stop!"
"Leave the coffins alone, okay?"
"Okay!"
"I mean it."
"Okay!!!"
8. "Kate, I'm going a little stir crazy without a job. I want to start working again."
"But you don't have to and it's dangerous, and now you want to go and make me worry about you?"
"It's probably not anything that's going to happen soon. I'm only interested in Criminal, and who knows how long that'll take to show up in the paper."
"So you're going to do it whether I want you to or not?"
"No, I promised you we'd both make the decisions and I meant it. But this is my Lifetime Want, and I really want to see if I can do it."
"But I couldn't bear to lose you."
"I can't bear to lose you either. Don't worry, I wouldn't take any unnecessary chances. If it ever looks too risky, I'll just quit. The last thing I want is to leave
you and the kids."
"I still don't know. Can I have some time to think about it?"
"Of course, take as long as you need. Like I said, it'll probably be a long time before the job shows up anyway."
9. It was always a treat when Nemo stopped by.
"Didn't I tell you how well vampires work in the Apocalypse?"
"Yeah...thrilled, tickled, ecstatic. Now Corey wants to risk crispifying to get his Lifetime Want."
"Don't tell me...Criminal Mastermind, right? It shouldn't be too difficult for him, especially if he can teleport."
"Corey used to meditate a lot and never could teleport. Heck, even Haley can teleport."
"Still doable, Kate...a lot of the shifts are at night. And on the plus side, he'll really get into shape with all the running he'll be doing."
"Well, in that case I guess everything's just hunky-dory."
"All kidding aside, he is perfectly capable of doing this."
"I hate worrying so much...can you believe after all this time the vampire thing still makes me nervous?"
"Maybe there's a reason for it...you should use it to your advantage. Corey will be that much more careful knowing it."
"I never thought of it that way. Thanks, Nemo, you do have a way of putting things that makes me feel better."
10. "I talked to Nemo and he said quite a few of your shifts would be at night. I guess the risk, at least some of the time, wouldn't be too bad."
"Does that mean you're saying yes?"
"...Yes, but you've got to promise me that you'll be careful, Corey."
11. "Kate, I love you. I swear I wouldn't risk losing us for any job in the world."
12. "Dad, you always gotta sleep in the day. Can you play with me outside tonight?"
"Sure, what do you feel like doing?"
13. "Can you show me how you fly?"
"Really? Okay, go get your brother and I'll meet you downstairs."
"Aw, do I have to?"
"Yes you have to. Go on now, hurry up."
14. Jake: "If I had a genie I'd make a wish that I could fly, too."
Ciel: "That's dumb, there's no such thing as genies."
Jake: "There is now...you're dumb!"
Ciel: "Nuh-uh, you're dumb."
Corey: "Ciel, Jake is right, there are genies now, but Jake, we don't have any in our neighborhood yet."
Jake and Ciel: "See, dummy?"
Corey: "Enough, you two! Now are you guys ready?"
15. Jake: "Waaahhh, I don't like bats. Get away, Dad, stay away from me!"
Ciel: "Chicken...bock-bock-bock! C'mon, Dad, follow me."
22. "Betcha can't get me again."
Poor Jake could never hit Dad, and Dad got him every time. He loved it anyway.
23. When I found Mom like this after work one day, I knew Dad had finally found his Criminal job.
24. "Athletics just isn't doing anything for me, Dad."
"What would do it for you?"
"Well, of course Science or Journalism, and I was also thinking of Education."
"Any of those three would be good. Education would be great for Ciel and Jake."
"And maybe even for Vampa and Gramma Ei. And for me...my ears could use a break from the constant bickering. How 'bout you?"
"I've got to admit it kind of tickles me. Then again, I sleep or work through most of it."
25. "Ciel, get out of there."
"Aw c'mon, it's fun."
"Now!"
"Dad?"
26. "Look, I know they're fun to play in. But the thing is they're so comfy that before you know it, you could fall asleep. And now that I'm working, I have to get
to the coffin real fast if it's still light outside or I could get very weak and sick."
27. "Could you die?"
"Well, it probably wouldn't come to that, but it could be very scary for all of us, and we don't want to take any chances, do we?"
"No. I don't want anything bad to happen to you, Dad. *sniff* "
"Don't cry, honey...it's all right. You didn't know, but now you do, right?"
" *sniff* Right."
28. "That's my sky girl. No more feeling bad and crying, okay?"
"Okay."
"Now go on and bug your brother."
29. "Don't you want to practice chess with your sister?"
"No, Mom, don't let him! He always cheats."
"Do not."
"Do so."
"Not."
"So."
30. Kobe was a wonder. She was a genius like Sake and came to us with four commands mastered. We only had to teach her to roll over, and in four work days,
six days total, she reached the top of Show Biz.
31. Lorin here. This is Corey at Level 5 Getaway Driver. Before that, I was too skeered to even think about taking pictures when he was leaving for work during the
day. I actually feared for his life after he was promoted from Pickpocket to Bagman when he had to get right back in the car with his needs severely depleted.
Beginning with level 5, it was dark when he left for and/or returned from work, with the exception of level 8. By level 8, he was finally able to teleport which
lowered the stress factor considerably.
32. On top of worrying about Dad, being unemployed and Fortune in the Apocalypse was tough on Mom with no private school or jobs available for teens...no
overachievers in our family. We received several expensive outing rewards, but not one stereo or painting, which were the only material things she ever
wanted.
"Kate honey, are you ready for date night?"
33. "Corey, I'd be a miserable wreck without you. I think now I'm going stir crazy."
"Maybe you should think about going back to work. Or at least get out of the house sometimes."
"Maybe. I need to work on adopting four more pets, but that'll take a long time without more food."
"I'm trying to get Darby for Kobe, then we can get number three. My schedule's a little rough for socializing right now though."
"Don't worry about me, I'll figure something out."
35. "This is a joke, right?"
"Don't knock it, Corey. This is a very economical, perfectly good grill."
"Which we can't use and don't need. You know we all like stereos, and goodness knows Kate needs one. I think you must've suffered brain damage from that
helmet of yours."
He's right, what was I thinking? Maybe my sanity is slipping away...or maybe I'm just a very dumb doppleganger...
"Okay, so this wasn't one of my more brilliant moves. Anyway, for Kate, not you, I would try to exchange it, but without Business lifted, it's not possible."
"Whatever. I'm sure Kate or Haley will be regifting it, probably to you."
"Yes, well...tell Kate and Haley I said hi and I'll see them around."
36. "Hi Dad, I like it when you come home at night."
"Me too, Jake. This is the best part of going to work."
37. "Just me alone with my birthday sparkles again."
"Hey dummy, I'm here behind the bed."
"You don't count, dummy."
38. "Hi everyone, I'm Ciel, a 5/2/8/9/3 Sagittarius, and I...just wanna have fu-un. I want 50 Dream Dates, especially with mechanical guys who wear skivvies, and
blechh to hats."

39. "Haley, now that school is history for me, what should I do?"
"You wanna be able leave the house, don't ya?"
"Yeah."
"Exercise 'til you drop."
41. Once Kobe lifted Pet Show Biz, Jake and Ciel spent as much time as possible building their body skills. Working out to the boombox was tricky...if fun was
maxed, the option wasn't there. We had to leave Jake out of some of our outings so his fun would go down enough to work out.
42. Ciel spent most of her first week as a teenager doing yoga. We couldn't believe how long she could keep at it, and in less than a week, she had maxed her
body skill. Dad was meditating a lot, trying to get to the point where he could teleport.
43. Kate, will you snap out of it? I'm tired of seeing you mope around all day.
"I can't help it, Corey's job is driving me crazy."
You and me both. You need a change of scene and I want to do some social playtesting, so get ready to go out.
"I guess a little diversion wouldn't hurt."
44. I finally found a job in Education, and since my skills were good, I decided to do some socializing in my spare time, which turned out to be with simselves
since they were who I knew best.
45. "So what's this chili you're talking about, Nemo? I've never heard of it before."
"How should I put this? Okay...here I don't eat chili, but in Riverblossom Hills I can eat it whenever I feel like it."
"You mean there's something to eat besides hotdogs?"
"Oh yeah, lots of things. You serve chili in a bowl and eat it with a spoon..."
"A bowl? What's a spoon?"
"Haven't you studied any cooking?"
"I've got some cooking skill from outings, but I've never read about it."
"You have a job in Education now, yes?"
"Yeah, finally."
"When you get the bookcase, read up on the cooking stuff. The only thing is it still won't really prepare you for when you get to eat the real thing."
46. "So...speaking of cooking, did you, um, see the grill?"
"You mean our old black one?"
"No, a different one, a new one. What about your mom? Did she see it?"
"No, no other grills around here."
"Reeeally..."
"Yes reeeally... Hey, how 'bout we go out and play some Mahjong?"
47. Mahjong was okay, but I didn't see what all the fuss was about. And that guy Toby was such a know it all...sheesh, you'd think he didn't have anything better
to do than play it all the time.
48. "So what was the big deal you made about the grill today anyway?"
"It's kinda embarrassing, I'd rather not say."
"I've got something kinda embarrassing to tell you."
"Are you sure I really need to hear this...?"
"Well, I'm only telling you because we're just friends right? I mean, you can never marry into our family, so we just stay friends."
"Yeah, just friends. So what's so embarrassing?"
49. "I think I wacked myself out by kissing a girl right before I grew up. I mean, I really did like her, but mainly I did it so I'd grow up well. I didn't want to see the
shrink like Mom did."
"What do you mean, wacked yourself out?"
"Well, I want to have a husband and kids. But I keep dreaming of women I've never met before."
"That's it?"
"Yeah. Weird, huh?"
50. "Perhaps you set your gender preference. And I don't think you're weird."
"But I can tell I do feel a little weird that way."
"Have you gone all out to get a guy?"
"No, I've been too busy working to want to. But now I'm curious about how relationships work."
"Like what?"
"Do you think if we get our picture taken together in the photo booth we'd still be just friends?"
"Yeah."
"Can we try?"
"Okay. But first...after all that, I guess I can tell you about the grill..."
"Hehe! Nemo, that's classic."
We got our silly photo booth pics and remained just friends.
51. While Nemo and I got our pics taken, Mom got up the courage to speak with the Contessa for some info about Dad and his job. The Contessa wasn't very
reassuring.
"So...Count Midlock tells me your hossband gave him a nice little gratuity in exchange for Thah Bite. Perhops," *SIZZZLE* "bleh, I could arrange to meet
him some time for a" *FIZZZLE* "...how do you say...a freebie?"
"Um, sure, I'll let him know." in your dreams, sister "Uh, question...does it hurt when you smoke like that?"
"How kind for your concern."
"Let me put it this way. Not implying that you're dumb or anything, but would my husband be dumb enough to stand outside and yack with a stranger while
he fries?"
"Bleh. Sims and Smart are words not usually used in the same sentence," *SIZZZLE* "you should know that. He vill only" *FIZZZLE* "be as dumb as your
creator allows."
55. On Jake's birthday, he had the misfortune to roll...Fortune, and wanted to be a Space Pirate.
Mom knew from experience Jake was not going to have the happiest of teen years, and she also knew how devastating the aspiration hit for being
uneducated was. But that's what I was there for.
56. I was beginning to wonder if Nemo was the only simself in the neighborhood. Then someone new finally showed up.
"It's nice to see a new face around here. I'm Haley."
"I'm BlueBerryPie, but you can call me Blue. I hear you've got teh vampires."
"You like them?"
"Zombies, aliens, werewolves...I like tehm all."
"Ehh, you might be disappointed in this neighborhood. We're not really big on them, except for my dad and grandfather, of course."
57. "So Blue, what do you do?"
"Write a lot. Have you heard of 'Bearly Alive' or 'One Ugly Pie' or 'Bearly a Bachelor'?"
"Sorry, right now I don't have time to read for pleasure, just study study study. Sounds like you're a write-a-holic. Do you stay home most of the time?"
"Oh no, in a parallel universe I'm a werewolf living with a zombie named Juliette, I have two daughters, Blue and Berry, and I'm a bachelorette in my own
Bachelor Challenge."
"Wow, I thought I was busy."
58. "You really don't know what you're missing without a zombie or two."
"I assume you're not a werewolf here, Blue, but even so, you're barking up the wrong tree. I hear zombies can make a real mess in the yard and I like
everything in its exact place, like so."
59. Blue said he was a Pleasure sim, but he sure had babies on the brain. We got along really well, and it was nice to have someone else to give gifts to. It was
win-win for me...I loved giving gifts and keeping the house decluttered.
"Blue, how come you're always thinking about babies?"
"I'm not! I'm just wondering if you're giving me a bunch of baby stuff, that's all."
"Oh no, we specialize in roses. But we do have some old baby stuff laying around...thanks for reminding me. And thank you for the boost."
60. Now I had plenty of time to top Education and hang around waiting for Lorin to decide who would be heir.
62. Of course, Ciel wasn't much nicer and always gave back as good as she got.
63. "What is it with you two? Can't you get along for one second?"
"She started it."
"Are you still hung up on the pink PJs?"
"Mom, stop bringing those up!"
64. Vampa started hanging around outside hoping to catch Gramma Eileen when she was out.
"It's been so long, Ei."
~Oh Sullivan, what have you done to yourself?~
"You mean the vamp? It was part of our plan to bring you back to me, but I miss you something awful. Lately I just want to end it all and come join you."
~You have a plan for us? Then you've got to hang in there, baby. Come for a walk with me, I want to know everything.~
65. ~Tell me about Kate. Was I right about Corey?~
"He's perfect for her...not that they didn't have a major rough patch when he became a vampire. He did it for us, you know."
~What about Haley? She was pretty funny that night with the cat. And you told her about me.~
"She has her own plan for us. And Ciel and Jake, part of the plan...it's never dull with those two. The kids are what keep me going now, Ei. And I told all of
them about you."
~What do you do with yourself?~
"My aspiration's in the tank, so it's meditate or wring my hands."
~Do you go out?~
"I have an outing group to keep the friend count up. I'm gonna go out and start looking for someone in Science."
~Wouldn't dating help you?~
"I'm not interested in romance."
~How about platonic dates for little boosts?~
"Is there such a thing?"
~I have no idea.~
"You wouldn't mind?"
~Oh, I think I can trust you, baby.~
"It wouldn't mean anything."
~That's why I trust you.~
66. "You know, Kari, you have a lovely smile."
"Aww, you're still as sweet as ever, Sullivan."
"You wouldn't happen to be in Science, would you?"
"Nope. Military."
"Too bad."
67. "Do any of you girls want to tell me your jobs?"
Andrea: "Lab Assistant."
Marylena: "Field Researcher."

68. "You guys look like you know how to have a good time. I'm Jane Cho."
"Hi Jane. Maybe you'd like to join our group some time?"
"Sure. By the way, I'm a Business Tycoon."
"Really! I'll be sure to invite you out with us next time."
69. "So Darby, you told me you love cats. Would you like to take Kobe?"
"I'd love to, but..."
70. "But what? See? She's showing off for you."
"It isn't that, it's..."
71. "I just can't afford to take her right now."
"Sorry to hear that. Oh well, you never know, maybe you'll come into windfall pretty soon."
72. "Maxi, since we can't call the cops on you, I'm asking you nicely to leave my mom's tombstone alone."

73. "Taking a little break, Nemo? Maybe both of us could use a trip downtown."

"Well, I've been a little overwhelmed lately, but I'm working through it."
"You've always been such a good friend to me...I wish I could help you like you've helped me all these years."
"That's a very nice thought, Kate, but really, I'm fine."
"Oh c'mon, there's gotta be something I can do for you."
"It's really something I can only do myself."
78. "Okay, if I can't help you, I'll ask this instead... What do you want?"
"Well, if you put it that way, I guess a slow dance would be nice."
Lorin here. See the heart in Nemo's speech bubble? I didn't. At least, not until I selected this pic for the story. I have no excuse except I must've zoned out during
my Sims all-nighter.
79. "I really want to do something nice for him. Should I, Lorin?"
He did say slow dance with a sim, not slow dance with you. Sounds innocent enough, and you're just on an outing, not a date. ~and obviously I'm blind~ Go for it.
*crosses fingers*
80. Lorin again. OH..FUDGE. Sorry, Corey...I am so dumb! And I've never seen an Outing score shoot up to Rockin' like that before.
81. "Uh-oh, Nemo. I feel funny...two bolts funny."
"I feel funny too. But it's not really funny at all, is it?"
"No, it's not. I am so sorry. My intentions were innocent...I don't know what I was thinking! That's just it, I wasn't thinking. I never dreamed I could ever cheat
on Corey, and now I just have."
"Don't get me wrong, normally I would be first in line to give him a hard time, but not like this. I say we never speak of this again and forget it ever
happened."
"Yes, you're right, it must stay our secret. Oh, I pray this doesn't come back to haunt us."
"Me too, Kate, me too."
Corey, my love, what have I done?
82. "Kathi! I didn't know you were here. Did you see what just happened?"
"Yup."
"You won't say anything to Corey will you? It was an accident, I swear."
"I believe you. I always thought you and Corey were such a cute couple, and there really wasn't much to see anyway. But that was a really dumb thing to do,
playing with fire with your best friend like that."
" *Groan* I know! And then I got so wrapped up feeling guilty about Corey, I didn't really think about how Nemo is doing. Could you go make sure he's all
right?"
"I don't know what I can do, but I guess I could try to talk to him."
"Thank you so much, Kathi."
83. "Hey Nemo, I found a way to make the best eggs. See? This is how I do it."
"Fascinating, Kathi, looks really good."
84. "Oh yeah, Mr. Eyes-in-the-Back-of-Your-Head? Do I scramble 'em or make 'em sunny side up?"
"Sorry, Kathi...I'm just not in the mood for pop quizzes and egg chit-chat right now."
85. "The least you can do is look at someone when they're talking to you."

"Are you all right?"

"Maybe something's wrong, Kate."
"Oh no...this just keeps getting worse and worse."
"Nemo!"
"....What? Oh...yes, I'm fine, Kathi. Are you ready to leave, Kate? I think that's enough of a break for me today..."
86. "Corey?"
"Hm?"
"I...really missed you today."
"Me, too."
"Oh Corey... *sniff* "
"What is it?"
"I...just hold me."
"...Better?"
"Tighter."
Heaven help me, please don't let him find out.
88. Normally teenagers don't choose to prolong their teen years, especially in the Apocalypse. But Ciel drank one dose to give me time to top Education before
she grew up.
"D'oh, now I'm his little sister."
89. "Here's that baby stuff we were talking about. Would you like to go on a little friendly date?"
"A friendly date with my best friend...sure, why not?"
90. "You're such a prolific writer. I don't understand quite how you do it, but I really admire you for it."
"So you think I'm a bit of an enigma? Why, thank you."
This was my first date ever, and my suspicions were confirmed...I was weird. I wanted a platonic date, and that's exactly what I got. I rolled lots of wants for
Talks, Tickles, Jokes, and Admires, but not a single Hug, Kiss, or Flirt. Our date bearly ;) got to the good level, which was fine by me. We wanted to avoid
falling in love with simselves.
91. It ended with an autonomous kiss...and there he was again with the babies. That was one thing we definitely had in common.
92. "Blue, that was a very nice friendly date. I really do like you."
93. What the? Honestly, I didn't think it could happen, but now I was in love and had one bolt for Blue. I knew then it would probably be our last date because I
couldn't be with him if I was heir. But if not, then maybe...? He did after all like babies.
94. Between Dad's work schedule and Darby's financial situation, Kobe elderfied before he could give her away.
95. Dad and I were getting promoted every day we went to work, and he was always one level behind me. Here he got promoted from Counterfeiter to
Smuggler, just one promotion away from his LTW.
96. I had Blue to thank for helping me get my promotion to Education Minister. My brother and sister could now use my awesome bookcase for extra-speedy
skilling. But best of all, they would be out of the house and going to high school and college. I could hardly wait for peace and quiet.
97. Poor Jake, my miserable neatnik brother.
"I could be here all day. Kick the can, pickup the mess, kick the can..."
98. "Jake, I went through the exact same thing when I was your age."
"So what did you do?"
"Suffered."
"Thanks for cheering me up, Mom."
"But you don't have to. Invite someone over and date like your sister."
"I still have to finish my body skilling."
"You can take time out for a little date. It'll work wonders."
99. "We found this chair for you...I hope it cheers you up. But no pranking with it, got me?"
"Who, me? I wouldn't do that to you, Mom."
101. "Oh-oh-oh! I love it! It's so...light and swingy."
"Not bad for a beginner, huh?"
"Wonderful, honey. That didn't look like it was too hard...Ciel, wanna be my guinea pig?"

"Well, I was going for more subtle tips like your dad's. Why don't you let Jake try since he did such a good job with mine?"
"Are you nuts? I'm not letting him near me."
"I told him no pranking. C'mon, be a sport."
"I don't have a choice, do I?"

103. "Whad'ya call this? Ugh, it's hideous!"
"It's just a little makeup like Mom's. What's so bad about it?"
"I can't even begin to tell you how awful it is...fix it, fix it NOW!"
"If you insist...sheesh."
104. "That's more like it."
"You...you...I look like a freaking tragic clown."
"Hey yeah...it suits you, too."
"I mean it, twerp, fix it now or I'll...I'll..."
"You'll what?"
105. "I'll... *sob* It's... *sniff* so humiliating. *sniff sniff* Everyone's gonna laugh at me. *sob* Nobody'll wanna date me as long as I live. *sob sniff* "
"Oh, all right, lemme see what I can do."

106. "Sorry, I really did try this time."
"Sure you did."
"No really, I did!"
"Listen, jerk, I don't care if it takes all night, you better make me look good."
"Not possible. And all night with you?...no thanks. Just hold still and shut up."
108. "My body's maxed, I can go to school now."
"It took you long enough."
"At least I can prove I did it. What about you, little sister?"
"I am not your little sister! And I wasn't the one in charge of the camera."
*whispers* "Why didn't he go to school with you today?"
"Gee, I guess he thought he couldn't go without his body maxed."
"Where did he get that idea?"
"Uh, beats me?"
"This isn't good. It's Friday and he grows up this weekend."
"Let him get a date and take a swig of elixir."
109. "Uh, Jake? I don't see a difference."
"Don't worry, Vampa, it's there."
"What did you do?"
"It's a surprise."
110. "Jake! I can't believe you got me a going away present."
"Why not? I'm just celebrating you leaving."
"Ugh, just give it to me. Are you gonna tell me what it is?"
"Not a chance. See ya in a few, little sister."
"For the last time, I'm not your little sister!"
"I beg to differ."
111. Dad got his Lifetime Want, and I couldn't think of anyone who deserved it more.
"Corey, I am so happy for you. And proud."
"Thanks, honey. I just can't seem to stop grinning, and you'll never guess what I want now."
"What?"
"Get Six Pets yada yada."
"You can get another one with me? Corey, that is just so romantic."
112. "I bet you never dated a guy who gives noogies like this."
"Ugh! You said we could use the bubble blower."
