This PowerPoint deck is the first in a collection. Each deck in this collection models a different communication style. Some models focus on visual display, others strictly on organizing information. This deck uses the âBare Outlineâ style. Although this style is typically a very poor choice as a communication tool, it can be helpful to authors trying to organize thoughts for themselves. In Exercises In PowerPoint Style, I use this outline as the raw material for all the other models in the series. This collection is inspired by Exercises In Style, the classic book by Raymond Queneau. In Exercise In Style, Queneau retells the same very simple story 99 times in 99 different styles. I plan to add to this collection over time, beginning with potentially useful styles, and later modelling common design errors.

Choose two Organisational Theory perspectives. Based on your selected perspectives, identify and draw out the two readings out of the given list that match your chosen perspectives. Critically analyse the two readings and evaluate how their ontological and epistemological positions result in a different understanding and narrative of technology within organisations. Such a review involves comparing different writersâ ideas or perspectives on a topic and evaluating these ideas, all in relation to your own work. A literature review differs from an article review in that it involves writing about several writersâ ideas, rather than evaluating a single article. It is also different to an annotated bibliography, which is usually a series of short reflections on individual pieces of writing. Introduction The literature review enables you and your reader to get an overview of a certain subject, so that it is clear who the main writers are in the field, and which main points need to be addressed. It should be an evaluative piece of writing, rather than just a description. This means that you need to weigh up arguments and critique ideas, rather than just providing a list of what different writers have said. It is up to you to decide what the reader needs to know on the topic, but you should only include the main pieces of writing in this area; a literature review does not need to include everything ever written on the topic. The most important thing is to show how the literature relates to your own work. You may be writing a literature review as part of a thesis, or as an exercise in itself. Whatever the reason, there are many benefits to writing a literature review. It provides an opportunity to: ï§ identify a gap in previous research ï§ outline the main arguments in your field ï§ show that you are familiar with the literature on your topic ï§ indicate who the main writers are in a particular area ï§ evaluate previous studies ï§ position your work in relation to other writers ï§ identify areas of controversy ï§ support your own work by citing other authors ï§ highlight current literature and use older sources where relevant ï§ see what previous methodologies have been used and to avoid making the same mistakes as previous researchers ï§ demonstrate that you can do research ï§ avoid plagiarism and demonstrate your referencing skills ï§ provide a clear theoretical framework 2 ï§ demonstrate your understanding of the key ideas and concepts in your topic ï§ define your terms, drawing on other writersâ definitions ï§ make you more confident that your area of research is worth studying. ENGLISH 1302 GUIDELINES FOR THE ACADEMIC PROPOSAL Purpose: To persuade your professor and yourself that your research project is a well planned and valuable project in which will be successful. You will be seeking approval of a project: that project is your research paper. Once your proposal is approved, you will begin putting together your research paper. Audience: Yourself and your English 1302 instructor Topic: Write and submit a proposal of your research paper. Â Proposal: 2-3 pages. Based on Lesson 6: âGathering Research,â Lesson 7: âIntegrating Research,â and Lesson 8: âDocumenting Research.â Â You may select the topic from an area of interest in your major field. Consult the suggested writing assignments in Student Course Guide for the Writerâs Odyssey for Lesson 8, p. 65. Format: Write a brief document that summarizes your research project for this course. These are the major components of an Academic Research Proposal and you will section your proposal according to these components: An overview of the completed research paper, includingAn introduction to your project and a preliminary thesis statement A short summary of the topic you are researching including short quotations, and paraphrases from some of your potential sourcesA description of the basic elements of your paper An explanation of the how readers will benefit from reading this paper A strong conclusion 2.
