Section A: Theoretical Evaluation of Production
Question 1a
Requires you to describes and evaluate the skills that you have developed
over the course of your production work from AS to A2.
This includes:
• Foundation Portfolio – i.e. Children’s film opening, Thriller opening,
Preliminary Tasks, Karaoke Music Video
• Advanced Portfolio – i.e. Music Video including the ancillary tasks of
your Magazine Advert and the Digipak.
The questions that will come up in the exam will require you to describe and
evaluate skills that you have developed in either one or two of the following
areas:
• Digital Technoilogy
• Creativity
• Research and Planning
• Post-production
• Using conventions from real texts
NOTE: You can talk about more than one production that you have worked
on and you can also discuss relevant work undertaken outside of media
studies, either work that you have produced either independently or as part of
another course such as film studies or photography etc.
Question 1b
This question requires you to select one production and evaluate it in
relation to a media concept such as:
• Genre
• Narrative
• Audience
• Representation
