Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill,
regarding the ability of an individual or organization
to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire

5. INTRODUCTION:
Dr. Muhammad yunus is a Bangladesh social
entrepreneur Banker, Economist and civil social
leader who was awarded Novel peace prize for
founding Grameen Bank and pioneering the
concept of microcredit and microfinance.
Professor Muhammad yunus is the recipient of
more than 50 honorary degrees from universities
across 20 countries. He has received 112 award
from 26 countries including state honours from
10 countries.
6. EARLY LIFE:
• Muhammad yunus was born in 28th June, 1940 in the village
of Bathua,in Hathhazari, Chittagong. He was third of 9
children. His father was a successful goldsmith who always
encouraged his sons to seek higher education. But his biggest
influence his mother,Sufia Khatun,who always helped any
poor that knocked on their door. This inspiration him to
commit himself to education of poverty. His early years were
spent in the village.
MARRIED:
In 1974 Vera Forostenko, a student os Russian
literature at Vanderbilt University. Yunus later
married Afrozi Yunus, who is a professor of physics at
Jahangir agar University.
7. EDUCATION:
Studied at Lamabager Primary School in
1944
He passed the matriculation examination
from Chittagong Collegiate School securing
the the 16th position among 39000 students in
East Pakistan.
In 1957, he enrolled in the department of
economics at Dhaka University.
Completed his BBA 1960 and MA in 1961.
8. AFTER GRADUATION
(Career)
• He was appointed as a lecturer in economics in Chittagong college
in1961.
• Obtained his PhD in economics from Vanderbilt University in the united
states through the graduate program in Economic Development(GPED)
in1971.
• From 1969 to 1972, Yunus was an assistant professor of economics at
Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
• After 1972 he joined as a professor of economics at Chittagong
University.
• Yunus lent USS27 of his money to 42 women in the village. who make a
profit BDT0.50 (USS0.2) each on the loan.
• He became involved with poverty reduction after observing the famine
of 1974,and established a rural economic program as a research project.
10. HISTORY of GRAMEEN
BANK:
The Grameen Bank is a Novel peach prize winning
microfinance organization and community development
bank found in Bangladesh. It gives small loans (known as
microcredit) to the rural poor people to remove the
unemployment by doing small business and making them
self-independent. Grameen bank, The pioneering intuition in
he field of poverty finance is now serving 2.6 million
borrowers with 95% as women. All it clients at the time of
their first loans were among the poorest. Given the access to
credit, They have an enbling environment to strive for better
line to cross poverty line and to continue to improve.

create economic and social development. In the prize

2008, Houston, Texas declared 14 January as

23. CONTROVERSIES
Since late November 2010, several allegations have been
made against yunus.These allegations started when a
documentary, titled Caught in Micro Debt, was aired on
Norweigian television on 30 November 2010, criticizing
microcredit and blaming Grameen bank on several points.
The Government announced a review into the activities of
Grameen Bank on 11 January 2011.
On 15 February 2011, the Finance Minister of Bangladesh,
Abul Mal Abdul Muhith, declared that Muhammad Yunus
Should “stay away” from Grameen Bank while it is being
investigated.
On 8 March 2011, the Bangladeshi court removed yunus
