A Virtual Intertextual Tour across Ancient
Entrepeneurship
Reports about activities April 2016 – August 2016
AVITAE (A Virtual Intertextual Tour across Ancient Entrepreneurship) aims to blend the
study of the classical world with the analysis of examples of ancient entrepreneurship:
students are going to follow the footsteps of the first entrepreneurs, study the evolution of
entrepreneurship through time and finally apply what they have learnt in theory into their own
entrepreneurial ventures; Classical world, entrepreneurship, digitalization: this is the
ambitious trilogy AVITAE relies on.

We started our activities in March by assigning to our students to get in touch with their
mates from the other countries so as to take their turn in using the Instagram account. In turn,
we assigned to groups of students the articles for the April newspaper issue.
Of course, we continued working on the Agora project scheduling meetings with our students,
getting their reports about their preparations, we did the necessary shopping and we started
staging it.
We handed in the November 2015 – February 2016 report.
We presented the outcomes of the project and gave newspaper copies to my school Advisor,
Mr Skiadas on 3/3.
We contacted the Ancient Agora Museum in Athens so as to get inspiration about the Agora
project but also to let them know of the work we have been doing.
In April we sent a presentation of the project to Mr Michalis Politis, Associate Professor in
the Ionion University, Corfu, as he showed interest in our activities. Next year we are
planning to seek the University’s collaboration in any form they are willing to offer it.
We prepared the trip to Spain, made the final staging of our Agora presentation and we
designed our poster.
In May, and as soon as coming back after the trip and the Easter holidays we reported on the
Tenerife experience. We gave around the new newspaper issues.
We went through to the minutes of the meeting in Spain so as to organize our time and the
new activities.
Despite the final exams hassle we tried planning Year2 AVITAE Day.
We uploaded a detailed description of Activity 11 so that everybody would have a common
ground in preparing it.
In June we visited the Junior Achievement site so as to get prepared for the mini companies’
activity in Cyprus.
On 17/6 (last day of the final exams) we had our AVITAE Day.
We formed the group that will travel to Cyprus and we started preparing them for the
forthcoming activities. We brain stormed them on the subject: gave them the essentials of
what it is to be done, some material to get them inspired and asked them to come up with
concrete proposals in September.
Students were also assigned the August issue articles. They met during the summer to discuss
their ideas and write the articles. They reported to us on the outcomes of their meetings.

April
We had the meeting here, in Tenerife, Spain, from the 19th
till the 25th
of April.
Teachers and students had an official welcome and a school tour in groups. They visited the
museums, the hall, the gardens, The Old High School and had a lecture about “our robotics
project” . Javier Mederos, a teacher of the school explained how the Cabrera Pinto students
work in teams to build their own prototypes.
We also had a Tour in La Laguna, visiting Casa Lercaro (History Museum) and La
Laguna Market. After that we visited the exhibition of the "Universal Markets" made by the
students and chose the best one.
On Friday, our students explained about the Teide National Park because we were
going to visit it the following day, and after that we went to the House/Museum of Wine and
Honey and to visit Monje Cellar, where we learned all the different stages in wine
producing. Finally, we had lunch in a wonderful restaurant, with a view of the wine yards and
the sea. Later we went to the Science and Cosmos Museum.
Next day we took a bus to the Teide
Astronomical Observatory where experts explained us
many things about telescopes and astronomy. And after
that we went to the National Park of El Teide visitors
centre, where we enjoyed a video about the formation of
the islands and the volcanoes, and later to El Portillo, to
see Las Cañadas and Los Roques de García.
Sunday was the last day and we went to Las
Mercedes Visitors centre and had hour walk through
tertiary laurel forests. Technology and P.E. teachers
guided us, and finally to Las Teresitas Beach. There
we played games organized by the students on the
beach.
In this meeting we decided:
 Dates and topics for the next two issues of
the AVITAE newspaper (May and
August).
 Best dates for Cyprus meeting
 Task to be shown in Cyprus: Movie or animated video
 Some partners want to participate In the next Junior achievement contest.
May
Our Local Agency in Tenerife invited us to a meeting. Many Erasmus+KA2 projects
finished in October and they wanted to be sure that all of them knew what they had to do and
wanted us, coordinators of projects that finished next year, to hear all the information they
were going to give them because we would need it soon.
We also have been:
 Keeping our blog updated.
 Thinking what to do in our AVITAE day 2016.
 Forming the group that will travel to Cyprus.
4
 Thinking abouy Cyprus task.
 Writing the articles for the May issue of the AVITAE newspaper.
June
We celebrated our AVITAE Day on the 2nd
of June with:
 A Skype conversation with our project fellows in Finland.
 An exhibition for the whole high school of the models
which our students had made using a wide range of
techniques (from recycling objects and materials to
creating new things using a 3D printer).
 An exhibition of the wonderful posters that the Danish and Greek teams had
brought to Tenerife.
We also have been writing the articles for the August issue of the AVITAE
newspaper.
Our National Agency invited us to a meeting in Madrid the last days of June. It was a
very informative meeting where they explained us all the things to have in mind when the
project ends:
 Mobility Tool.
 Budget.
 Results Platform
 Final Report.

In April we visited Tenerife and enjoyed working in international teams with INDEX
method. Before that we had to prepare our Universal Market to be presented in Spain. We
decided to create virtual museum. Students had to find information about the ancient markets
in our region, about present markets and then suggest the way how could market work in the
future. We cooperated with our history teachers and visited Museum of commerce.
5
May – June
We informed our headmaster and other colleagues about the visit in Tenerife, and posted new
article on the school website about our experience. We presented our project to our regional
government.
Students finished the articles for the AVITAE newspaper.
In June, students in teams organized AVITAE Day. They decided to present our project to
teachers and students of our school. All participants talked about their experience during
project meetings.
During international eTwinning seminar, our coordinator presented the AVITAE project to
the participants to show how eTwinning can be used in Erasmus+ projects.
We formed the teams for the next task for Cyprus meeting. The task was to prepare video –
one day in the life of an Entrepreneur (ancient one and modern one).
The last task was to write an article for the August issue of the AVITAE newspaper
